I had very little idea of who Mark was, but I wanted to him to win because he was great (his Samba was fabulous). If anything (given that I don't like Karen much), I wanted to him in spite of Karen (esp. when she wouldn't keep her mouth shut at times).

I agree with the others who think this thread should be about Karen's work on BBC Breakfast and nothing else.

True early on in the competition, but why would you want to see Kate in the final of a dance contest. What is the point of someone who can't dance to save her life winning a dance contest on the basis of popularity? What's the point of the others making any effort at all to learn the dances properly? Kate has barely improved since week one. Most of the others have improved a lot more, which suggests they are working harder at it, and if its not because she's not working as hard as the others, then she has two left feet, and shouldn't be getting into the second half of the competition. The BBC may as well make them walk up and down a catwalk and ask people to vote for the most popular.

It is a dance contest, but it's a dance contest featuring celebrities, for charity, where part of the vote is decided not by professional judges but by the (generally) untrained public. So for those reasons, it is never going to be just about dance ability. The celebrities that enter have to take a punt - they have to trust that their dancing combined with how they come across to the public combined with how their (professional) partner comes across is going to get people voting for them.

When Karen said she had to ask the general public to think about what sort of final they want, my knee-jerk reaction was to think that I'll do as I damn please with my 25p, thank you very much, and vote for how I want for any reason I like. If the BBC don't want me to do that, then take away my vote, or restrict it to only being able to vote for the best three dancers. I don't like being lectured to as if I'm stupid.

I haven't voted for anyone on this series of SCD but I have voted on other reality shows, and on one occassion deliberately voted for the contestant the judges didn't want to win and were unnecessarily horrible to, not because i particularly liked the contestant, but because I don't appreciate seeing the judges complain about how the GBP voted when it is my money, and I knew it would really piss the judges off if this contestant got a lot of votes (and my evil plan worked )

btw, I personally would have preferred it if Kate went weeks ago and really hope she isn't in the final, but on the other hand it would be amusing if she was.

To get back to original point of this thread, I am not a Karen fan - never have been, never will be - BUT, having said that, I can't think of any reason why she shouldn't be on Breakfast tv on Mondays, and in fact, from a dancers' point of view, she talks a whole lot of sense!

I can't either. For everything I don't like about her she does appear to know what she is talking about. As for being anti-Kelly... it would be normal for anyone on the dance circuit to have dislikes for certain dancers and to have a subjective judging method. I'd say it would be impossible to find one who doesn't.
