Actually the clue is in the title "Strictly Come Dancing"

It doesn't matter...just look at how the public are voting..that should give you a clue on how they perceive this show.

But its only really effected this year I mean you do get the symapthy vote like Chris Parker, Bill Turnbull for example but they soon go after a few weeks. Kate has ruined SCD for many people thatr watch it for dancing.

I hope the judges will refuse to judge the next year and many people will be put off by popularity votes and potential dancers won't be bothered to enter the competition should it turn into this, erm, entertaining, travesty

I think I need to retire from watching TV if Kate is entertainment now. Its like saying Charley in BB was entertaining.

I don't think Kenny will make it to the final, but I think there is a strong chance of Kate getting there so another 'Christopher Parker' final could be on the cards unfortunately.

But as soon as she is out of close hold .....

But it is the public that puts the couple into the bottom two - or more correctly, the fact that the public voted more for Kate (and perhaps Kenny) instead of Penny and Matt. You would more than likely get the same result without the dance-off. All that the judges have to do is to choose between the two couples put there by the public (or more correctly, by the comparative lack of support by the public).

The judges broadly get it right when they do their bit (overall, looking at the leaderboard positions), but it's the public that is producing the bottom two.

Is it conceivable that we could have a Kate -v- Kenny finale?

They are so bad and yet manage to remain out of the bottom two, is it a possibility?”

oooh I hope so!

yeah, it would make fantastically bad entertainment for Christmas, just what the viewers want to see. Of course, you could always switch over and watch some Wedding camcorder footage of the Best Man dancing on You've Been Framed and see similar embarrassingly bad dancing

Perhaps some here have a death wish on the programme? Or perhaps they are not in the least bit interested in watching dancing of any quality?

Hopefully as more and more "good" dancers are leaving, the people who have voted for the evictees will shift allegiance to one of the other more accomplished dancers buildign up support and keeping the right people in. I can;t see Kate of kenny growing their fanbase from this point on. I would like to see Matt, Gethin, Kelly and Alesha as the final 4.

Julian Clarey got to the final above Aled Jones. The judges slated him and the public voted for him.

I'd quite like to see Kenny in the final; he's grown on me over the weeks. Since Gabby went there's been no one who has particularly interested me so I don't really care who gets through, although having Kelly knocked out sometime would be a bonus. And Kate, who is just annoying and extremely rubbish.

Do you really think that Darren Gough deserved to beat Colin Jackson and Zoe Ball on his dancing ability?

In my opinion, Colin was and is the best male dancer ever to appear on the show, and Zoe was probably second best female after Jill.

If the viewers don't want to see it - then they need to vote for who they WANT to see!!

Colin was fabulous - that awful and bizarre freestyle did for him, though, I think.

Darren Gough was in a completely different class from the like of Chris Parker though, and that is the crix of the argument.

Darren Gough was indeed better than Chris Parker, but he wasnt in the same ball park (or ballroom?) as Colin Jackson.

The "crix" (or crux) of the argument is that SCD has been a personality contest every single series... however I personally view SCD3 as the worst because the winner was clearly not the best dancer. On every other occassion the best dancer has come through to win, despite numerous upsets along the way.

I'm beginning to think I had retired from watching tv long ago, as apart from Stephanie Beacham, I hadn't heard of any of these so-called 'celebrities' before they were on Strictly. And if Kate can be classed as 'entertaining' I think I will stayed retired and read a good book!

Sorry, that was meant to be "crux", I'll have to get a new keyboard.

Back to the post, there is a great deal of difference between comparing the good and the best dancers to the mediocre/adequate and the best.

So a man who represented his country at football 79 times, and a man who represented his at rugby 70 times are so-called celebrities.

Kelly Brook is The worst presenter on the big breakfast EVER!

I suppose at least the celebrities are better on SCD then on I'm a celebrity... I have no idea who 7 of them are!! and then I only know Marc Bannerman from Eastenders about 20 years ago and a singer from the 90's and that old bag from the apprentice.

Bill stayed till just before the semi final, although I don't think you can liken Kate to him in terms of performance, he wasn't too bad most weeks and definitely improved as time went on.

I just read a thread on the BBC site where people voting for Kate explain their reasons, and depressed myself. Many are voting for her because Anton is funny. OK. Many seem to think that a vote for Kate is a vote against Kelly. Very weird. It's all very passionate, and you can also tell definitely that the more anyone suggests they shouldn't the more they'll vote. Having read it, I do think she'll get to at least the semi-finals.

Oh heck.

Me and family did think a large part of the Kate vote was down to Anton, but vote against Kelly?! Voting for Kate is a vote against everybody else in the show I would have thought.

Kate having to do 2 dances in a week......and she can't even do one.

If I'm honest I find that a bit precious. I studied Dance for 12 years and took performance studies at university and I love watching dance - in all forms - to the highest standard.

However, I am able to appreciate SCD for what it is: excellent dancing combined with good saturday night entertainment. I don't think any of those who have gone so far could have won and I sure as hell wouldn't have paid to watch any of those who have left so far.

Kate hasn't ruined it for me - I'm a bit 'meh' about her but LOVE watching Anton so will always give a little smile when then get through on a sunday. If they beat Alesha or Gethin I might agree with you but to say Kate Garroway has ruined SCD is, to me, a little melodramatic.
