I have a question that any diehard strictly fans might be able to answer.
in the entire series' history, has any strictly winner ever been in the bottom two?
(ie i know maren were never in the bottom two, and I'm pretty sure jill and darren never were. how about for the other series?)

Jill, Darren and Mark were never in the bottom two. No idea about Natasha.

Natasha & Brendan were in the bottom two the week they did the Jive at Blackpool Tower. Regards, SCD Anorak.

I'm just wondering in terms of Matt and Flavia. I thought they had a decent stab at winning before Saturday, but not so sure now...
But I also think people are voting different this year, far more tactically, so perhaps it's harder to tell based on past series anyway.

I think the people who are voting for couples who are bad dancers are probably voting more fervently because they know that once that couple are in the bottom two then they are goners regardless of whether they have a higher public vote than the other couple in the bottom two. I think if the BBC wanted more cash for charity then their strategy is working but if they wanted to keep the good dancers in then it's backfired.

I saw Natasha and Brendan's footage and it seems they were in bottom two more than once. But it was in series one and the voting attitudes has changed quite a lot since then so I'm not sure if this is relevant.

I think they could still win
People seem to be rooting for the under dog a lot more this year but i think when it gets down to the actual final the one that dances best on the night will win.

But will they get to the final?? It's so unpredictable this year I have visions of Kate continuing to help knock the better dancers out for many weeks more...!

Thanks to everyone who replied about the bottom two question!

I thought matt had a following but clearly he doesn't well not as much as i thought.

Kenny offers pure comedy on the dance floor and Anton and Kate are a great duo together even though they are horrid on the dancefloor.

I think right now Alesha, Kelly and Gethin will always be safe. The rest are all up for grabs.

The good old days when the voting was accurate.

Now we get the medicocre Kate getting through each week

I hate to mention the dreaded dancing on ice, but in the first series gaynor was in the bottom two for weeks at the start of the show, then went on to win it. i think it did her good in the long run, built up a fan base for her

But isn't there always one underdog who does better than they should? eg diarmud in series 2, or dennis taylor in series 3 (or maybe it's my imagination that they last longer then they should). wasn't julian clary in mainly out of popularity rather than dances?
(don't get me wrong, i'm totally over kate being in, but from memory it is a perennial problem...i think!)

Diarmud lasted four dances and Dennis five. Kate and Kenny have outdone both of them!

You mean the good old days when Christopher Parker got to the final, don't think the voting was accurate then

Im sure she was in bottom 2 at least once. But I also seem to remember that for the first 2 or 3 weeks, she kept saying she wanted to be voted off. Can't remember which week/dance, but she suddenly had a change of heart about the whole show and wanted to stay in. Memory (age!!)has failed me as to which dance was the turning point tho.

I maybe wrong but I seem to remember Mark Ramprakash being 2nd from bottom on the leader board(judges score) one week ........I think it was the week he danced the Rhumba.....but I very much doubt he was ever in the bottom 2 after the public vote.....but we will never know.

Come on now, think Christopher Parker who got to the final in Series 1 and couldn't dance a step.

Yeah but he wasn't actually in the bottom two - the lowest combinded vote bit, the public saved them.

I was amazed looking back at series 1 that Claire Sweeney went out in week 5 with a score of 32. She has since dancing in West end muscals, but she must not have got the popular vote.
