Have just had it confirmed by a friend in the USA who is also a DWTS fan that there wasn't a show last night - so I won't be posting any links to it.

By having them dance next week and the first elimination show on the 2nd Tuesday, each couple gets a chance to do both a Latin and a ballroom before the public and judges decide who needs to go. I like it when better that myself and I believe ABC received a lot of complaints last year.
I'd venture to guess the dance-off is a way to inject some new interest and drama to the show. I can't wait how it goes over with the fans. |

Dancing Star Gilles Marini suffers shoulder injury
Dancing With The Stars contestant Gilles Marini has suffered a shoulder injury.
Speaking to Access Hollywood, a representative for the actor confirmed that he had separated his shoulder during training but that he still intended to dance. The 33-year-old, who recently appeared in Sex And The City: The Movie, was the highest scoring contestant in the show's premiere episode, scoring 24 out of a possible 30 points for his cha cha cha with dance partner Cheryl Burke. Marini's injury is the latest in a string of ailments to plague the ABC dancing programme. Popstar Jewel was forced to pull out after fracturing both tibia in rehearsals, while Access host Nancy O'Dell dropped out because of a torn meniscus in her knee. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has reportedly also suffered a knock, after he was photographed wearing a protective boot on his foot. Representatives for the 58-year-old have yet to comment. |

And two more are injured!!
Two more 'Dancing' contestants injured
Friday, March 13 2009, 13:26 GMT By Lara Martin, Entertainment Reporter Two more Dancing With The Stars contestants have been injured during rehearsals. Jackass star Steve-O and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak have joined the list of celebrities who have taken a tumble during preparation for the ABC show. Speaking to Access Hollywood, Steve-O revealed that he was suffering from severe back pain, saying: "We had a physical therapist come work on me a little bit and she said everything is messed up." The 34-year-old, who was born in London, admitted that his injury had prevented him from fully practising this week's routine. When asked if the complaint could force him out of the competition, he replied: "Anything's possible but I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure this salsa on Monday goes great." Elsewhere, Wozniak has revealed that he fractured his left foot in training two weeks ago and has been wearing a protective boot for support. He said: "If the pain gets worse than before, I’m going to do the right thing [and leave the show]." Yesterday, actor Gilles Marini suffered a separated shoulder. Singer Jewel and TV host Nancy O'Dell have already pulled out of the competition. |

DWTS Week 2
Introduction and Holly & Dmitry - Quickstep
David & Kym - Salsa Denise & Maks - Quickstep Belinda & Jonathan - Salsa Ty & Chelsie - Quickstep Shawn & Mark - Salsa Steve & Karina - Quickstep Chuck & Julianne - Salsa Lawrence & Edyta - Quickstep There are still 4 more routines to come but YouTube seems to have come to a halt for the moment. I will link to them as soon as DWTSSeason8 uploads them. Steve-O injured his back during dress rehearsal when he fell on his mic pack and wasn't able to perform live. Per the DWTS rules, a recording of his dress rehearsal performance was shown, and the judges awarded their points based on that performance. So, what's going to happen on Tuesday night's Results Show? Will Steve-O have to drop out? Will this season's new dance-off between the lowest scoring couples proceed as planned? Thanks to DWTSSeason8 ![]() Results show tomorrow. Don't forget you can watch the entire show here http://copage.multiply.com/. She hasn't put it up yet, but will do later. |

Watching the the result show. The dance off is done much differently than on SCD.
I would be interested in hearing your opinions about how you the like the dance off procedure on DWTS vs. the way it is done on SCD. Do you like the SCD way better or would like you like to see SCD incorporate some of the DWTS style of dance off. Or should both shows either keep or eliminate it. Do you think DWTS is on the right track by doing this? Thanks in advance for any opinions.
Next week the couples will take on either the samba or foxtrot. I assume those that did ballroom will do Latin and vice versa. |

I'm in the minority here who prefer the SCD dance off, because you then keep the good dancers rather than the one who are not very good. But I thiink I'm in the minority. |

Re the dance off
No, the clip of the actual dance off dances and critique and scoring by the judges was not there. Here is difference though.
Each couple dances again the judges give their critique and scores. Then based on the combined scores and the public vote, they announce the couple that is eliminated. They don't stand before the judges while the judges choose who stays. Big difference. Not as much drama and intensity as SCD because even though the judges are giving scores they don't have the final say. I think it will become more interesting as the season goes on and there are any surprise eliminations. I have not been on the ABC boards or twop boards to see how the public is reacting. I thought it would like the SCD version where the 3 judges would decide which couple goes and then Len would have the final decision if it were a tie. |

No, that's not quite right...they throw out the old judges scores, and take the new score from the dance-off, combine that with the public vote, and then eliminate the bottom person. Oh, yes, it can get more complicated!

Oops. You are right Philly - Sorry
That's it.
I missed the first part of the explanation of the dance off. But still a bit different with the judges not deciding who goes and yes complicated very complicated.Meant to give a shout out to Lady Latina. Checking off the months on the calendar for September to come. |

Dance Off
cpgcorner has included the two Dance Off dances on her clips. The first one (plus the explanation of how it works) starts at 6.56 on the first clip.
Belinda & Jonathan Dance Off (from 6.56) Steve & Karina Dance Off Interesting to see how it works as it's different to our version as Philly says. I suppose the only way the judges could really influence the result would be to give very low marks to a really bad dancer. |

Don't forget you can see the whole lot here (including the last series) and she has also put up the Recap show which came before the Results Show on Tuesday night.
I keep mentioning this as I daresay DWTSSeason8 will become a victim of the ABC copyright police sooner or later.
