Yes, I think this is a good twist - one Strictly could consider. And certainly - where there are 4 judges - it removes the necessity of "whatever Len says goes", which gets up the nose of many people.
I agree and although I still prefer SCD to DWTS overall, but I prefer a lot of the DWTS rules. The way DWTS handles a couples dropping out of the competition is far better than SCD with its two couple final fracas.

Thanks FT
I understand what you are saying, but people vote for symphathy, personalities and not for dance itself. Sadly that's the true.

It wasn't the dancing lady latina. I'm just really disappointed that my favourite pro has gone out so early

In this case, people definitely voted on personality (and frankly, I just didn't see the big improvement that the judges saw). Denise Richards is...well...I know "hated" is a strong word, but yeah, she's hated. And Maks did not look unhappy to be voted out, at all. So there must be something to it.

Denise does not have a positive image with the American public with her all man troubles and her reality show antics unfortunately. Plus there are very strong rumours that she and Maks were not exactly hitting it off and he was frustrated with her lack of confidence. How true the rumors were I don't know but they were pretty persistent. I did visit his message board and many of fans were quite unhappy that he had Denise as his partner, resigned to support him but not real happy about her.

Sad for Maks because he so talented and I thought he was wonderful with Mel B and Laila. He also brought out the dancer in Willa and even Tia and who knows if Misty hadn't got hurt last year how far she would have gone.

I have not been to the ABC boards but I am sure the dance off procedure is going to start creating controversy. If the judges had a say, Denise and Maks would have been saved.

Ty is really growing on me. In the interviews I have seen with him I like how respectful of Chelsie he is and giving this is all. He does have that "aw shucks, kicking the sand" persona. The way he handled Chelsie's fall in the foxtrot was admirable and quite the leading man. And as a bull ridin' cowboy I don't think he has ever seen the inside of a ballroom (even a dance hall) and this will be a journey. If he can get better with Latin I think he has a chance to go far. I would love for him to hang on a while. But it is hard going up against a heartthrob like Gilles who is way out in front in the polls and a sweetheart like Shawn. But other than Melissa this year I think the playing field is level.

Hi Lilli
Good to hear from you. Now you are the one who are giving us the feedback form that side of the Atlantic.
I have been in the BBC boards and well waht can say, It's like the BBC board, very passionate and sometimes means posts.
Anyway although I agree that Giles is the guy to beat, and I love Shawn because she is one of my favourites Gymnast, I also want Tony to do well, because apart from Stacy, he never got a good partner and I think he's always supportive with all his partners no matter how bad they are.
Was nice to see him so excited with the three 9's.
I'm sure Giles will win and again Cheryl will have the trophy.

Hi Ladylatina

Interesting comments.

On vote#1 which is a very accurate predictor of how the public is voting on reality shows Gilles does indeed have a huge lead. Shawn is second and Melissa third. Ty is the the most improved at a whopping 60% so if he keeps getting better he may actually be a contender in the competition.

I agree Tony seems thrilled that he has a such a great partner. Who knew that a last minute replacement would be able to do so well?

Well I thought the right couple (of the wrong bottom two ) went.....

I couldn't see the "improvement" in the performance the judges did those samba rolls were painful to watch and she was so stiff.

Holly came out and socked it to them and deserved to go through for that alone

Its interesting that Denise went despite winning the dance off on judges scores though...... wonder what results we'd have got on SCD had they done this..... would Lisa and Rachel have made it to the final at all?

ITA. I was so happy when I heard the result. Holly has really grown on me & is now one of my faves. Her attitude to the whole competition is first class. She has had negative comments from the judges for 2 weeks, but she has taken the comments on board & in the confessionals agreed with what they said. Her Samba was not great, but she tries 100 per cent & gives it her all & brings her personality to the dancefloor and I find that so endearing. The same cannot be said of Denise. Denise's Samba was worse than Holly's, I watched through my hands. Maks was not into this it this season with Denise. She is not his type of person. She is too insecure & needy, and on the dancefloor crippled with nerves & it showed. In the rehearsal footage for her first dance I thought she looked pretty good, and on the night was awful. As much as I am a fan of Maks, I'd rather see him go out early than go through the motions in blah way with Denise.

I have posted my comments on the week 3 thread, but I just wanted to say that I agreed with the judges that Denise improved and for me she did a lot more samba moves (yes the roles were bad) than Holly.

I also think Denise would have made more progress in the end - but she clearly didn't click with Maks and he let it show (he could hardly look her in the eye) which I thought was bad form on his part. So I guess the result was right for that reason if not for any other.

If it weren't for the fact it looked like Denise & Maks weren't getting on, I definitely have sent home Holly. She's fine until she moves off the spot and then she's all over the place - all the fancy stuff doesn't hide the fact she is very uncoordinated and her feet are all over the place. And what a sulky pouter she is - plus that giggle I'd send her home right after Steve Woz.

Shawn is my favourite female celeb this series and Ty my favourite male (I love him to bits!). They both have great relationship with their pro partners.

The two Steves must have some public vote for them both to avoid the dance if again!

That link did not work. Here it is again. If it does not work google vote number 1 and click on forums and it takes to the DWTS. You can vote from there and see the results.

Thanks (I was using #!)

What a fab site! I just checked out American Idol and the site was right with 2 out of 3 of the bottom 3.

Wish we had something similar in the UK!

I know that Ty Murray's blog was mentioned and I wanted to know if anyone was following it regularly. Even if you are not a fan of his he is quite articulate and genuinely giving a personal description of what the experience of being on the show is like. I think even someone who only followed SCD would find it interesting. He updates it daily. Lots of a little tidbits about how the show is done, how he is learning the dances and what it feels like, frustrations, etc. I was really surprised.

Yes I am and really enjoying it. It gives a new perspective on how hard they all work on the dances before we see them on the actual programme.

For some reason, Gilles & Cheryl's Argentine Tango hasn't come up on YT from DWTSSeason8 yet, so here it is from cpgcorner2 - at the end of the first clip (from 7 minutes onwards) and the beginning of the second clip. It's worth watching!

Gilles & Cheryl - Argentine Tango (from 7.00 onwards)

Gilles & Cheryl judges comments and scores at the beginning of the clip

Just as added interest notice when the couples go for their scores and the camera pans to the right of the judges, there is Brian Fortuna sitting in the last seat.
