A cute video that Derek 'directed' with some of the DWTS cast singing along to a BHB song. Ty does an excellent dance break in the middle of it!!

According to Jewel's blog the 60s dance is Austin Powers inspired. This is going to be funny. Oh behave!

I think tonight will be good because it seems everyone is getting a dance that will suit them and the competition will be tight especially with the the frontrunners.

In case anyone does not know the line up I believe it is:

Gilles and Cheryl - VW
Ty and Chelsie - waltz
Melissa and Tony - Argentine tango
Lawrence and Edyta - waltz
Chuck and Julianne - Samba
Lil Kim and Derek - rumba
Shawn and Mark - cha cha.

I'm guessing that Lil Kim and Shawn and Gilles will sparkle once again. Chuck may struggle with his samba. LT depends - it could go either way.

It worries me a little that Ty says his heart beats so fast that he gets shaky but I have a feeling he will do well tonight. I hope so.

Anyone who's supporting Ty (and that includes me!) - he's really going to need our votes today. Register your email address(es) with www.abc.com and you can vote up to 8 times for each address until 5.00pm today.

Keep Ty in for another week - it's time for LT to go!

I only watched Gilles, Melanie, lil, & shawn, the frontrunners....oh oh Gilles is slipping the last 2 weeks in a row now!

Why the hell did they dance the boring VW for...who picked it for them???

They haven't dance rumba yet so that should be for next week...Gilles & Cheryl got to pull up their socks from here on.

Other than that Lil IMO is far too overrated...her Elvis jive last time was not that good either...she's out of time on few occasions... Derek simply carried them both on that one.

BTW I thought Ty did a good job.

They don't pick their own dances, they are told what they are going to do. And VW isn't boring, if it's done properly!!!

Think Gilles & Cheryl were marked down last 2 weeks for being - as Len said - a bit hectic. Cheryl needs to choreograph some light and shade into the routines (which she is more than capable of), but more importantly, she needs to make sure the music is played at correct tempo. For both their paso & jive it was far too fast.

Lil Kim's jive just wasn't a jive! It was hugely entertaining, and there were a few rock n roll steps in it, but it wasn't a jive. Because of that, they were well overmarked, even though, it was a hugely enjoyable routine to watch.

Well that's even worst, obviously whoever picked that boring dance for them wanted them to fail the top spot!!

"And VW isn't boring, if it's done properly"!!!

- as far as I'm concerned it is BORING obviously not to you BUT it is boring to me!

Everyone who stays in the competition will have to do the VW at some point as they have to do all the ballroom dances and all the latin dances during the comp (unless they get knocked out first, of course).

Have to agree with Force Ten - time to go LT BUT I'd have given him an extra point for the dress he designed for Edyta - at last she's covered up and the colours were great!

By the end of the series the couples left will have danced all the dances and at this stage in the competition each couple has to dance one of the dances they haven't danced yet.

The VW can be beautiful and amazingly romantic even if there are only about three steps!!

Check out these two from Strictly where the rules are much more strict and celebs often feel physically sick from all the spinning when training!

Alesha and Matt and Karen and Mark (dance starts at about 2.20 into the clip)

Nothing wrong with that - it would be a BORING old world if we all liked the same things, wouldn't it?

Just want to say thanks for the links, Force Ten!
I was a bit disappointed with Gilles this week, I thought that his music was too fast for a VW, but he's still great. I really enjoyed Ty and Chelsie, really hope he doesn't go. I'm hoping it will be Chuck and Julianne, but I'm guessing it might be Lawrence and Edyta! It's so hard to tell! (I hope it's ok to speculate about who will leave in this thread!).

Of coruse it's okay to speculate Katinka. Just try not to mention who has actually left as there are some people who like to wait until Friday to watch it on Watch. Although it's difficult to avoid finding out when DS post it in their news section.

One day hopefully the criteria for these shows change drastically.

No dancing background of any type inc ballet & pop dancers will be considered.

No gymnastics, contortionist, etc background of any sort will be considered whether it's a gold medallist or otherwise.

Only celebs with ABSOLUTELY no experience on the abovementioned skills will be
considered!!!!

And can Dovoloni also be dropped sooner rather than later!!!

The problem with this criteria is that most actors/actresses/popstars etc etc have had some form of dance training no matter how basic at some time or another so finding anyone with absolutely no dance experience whatsoever will be nigh on impossible.

And why do they have to be second rate actors/popstars or in the case of that Bachelor contestant be the only one to be considered???

Obviously there are exceptions on actors (m/f) who have no previous background on dancing.

Gilles no exp, Ty no exp, Apolo Anton Ohno no exp, Helio no exp....no question that they can still find such gems & surprise future great dancers without having the advantage of those skills in the first place.

Basically, you would have to ban 99.9% of actors/actresses because if they have been to stage school they will have done dancing to some degree as part of their training.

Also, with more and more schools - from primary level upwards - now introducing dance into their curriculum it could become impossible to find anyone who has never had any dance training at all. Think you'd have to just drop the shows altogether.

Ahhhhhhhh - what's wrong with Dovoloni? He's cute.

Agree with Kaycee. My niece's friend in Florida, she's studying acting and part of her trainning as an actor, she had to take a course of basic ballet and modern dance.
Dancing is consider as an sport, because the level of excersice you have to work in it is very strong. Especially in ballroom dancing wich you have to workout you core and all your body muscle.
And for Dovolani, I suppose is about of taste, and I do like him.
I had the expereience to see him dancing live a couple years ago and his a very good dancer and also a gentleman.
He is one of the professional who never overdance his partner and he never try to showcase himself.
