Which one of the new pro's would you like to see through? I really liked Mayo - I think it'd give the show more scope to have taller lady celebs on as most of the male pro's on there at the moment don't seem all that tall.

I also liked Anna - Afton was OK but I'd rank them in that order if I had to - Mayo, Anna and then Afton.

Totally agree - Mayo was the best, followed by Anna, then Afton. If Ian can be successful as a dancer then so can Mayo and as you said, it will give them the scope to have taller ladies on the show.

Very happy with the result...always thought Kim is overrated & only carried mostly by her partner..at most she's awkward.

I've got a feeling Melissa & Tony will go all the way to the final as will Gilles & Cheryl. Next week it could be between Shawn and Ty as to who goes out. I think it depends on who's got the biggest fan base and Ty seems to have a massive army of supporters behind him (including me lol). I would love to see him get to the final even if he doesn't win. His journey has been remarkable for someone who had never danced a step before this series. He only entered because Jewel did and he must have been a bit confused about the whole thing when she pulled out, but he has just kept going and trying his best and being his own humble and lovely self - unlike a certain Mr Sergeant who was extremely arrogant (IMO I hasten to add).

He is what SCD and DWTS is all about really - take someone on a journey and teach them to dance. He might not look that good compared to Gilles, Melissa and Shawn, but he isn't actually that bad when you compare him to some of the others who have already gone out. His main problem is that he's too stiff and I suspect that's got more to do with all the metal bits he's got in him from the various bones he's broken in the PBR. He said himself that he has had both shoulders operated on and has a plate in his neck and is finding the lifts a bit difficult so I'm amazed he's doing as well as he is.

I'll be happy with Gilles & Ty in the final...both inexperienced dancers so it will def be a fair one.

If ever that Melissa gets in the finale then.....

You've just let the cat out of the bag about who goes and some people don't watch until Friday. Try to phrase your posts so you don't spoil things for others. This thread is really about links to watch or read about DWTS more than discussion about the show. You can always post a thread to share your thoughts about the show and if that includes spoilers you can say that in the title so people can avoid it if they want. We shouldn't have to avoid this thread. (This is just meant as friendly advice).

What an outrageous result! They were my winners, certainly the best dancers. Ty clearly has a very very very large fan base (why???????????????) because one thing he can't do is dance!!

Oh well, no point in watching the show this week now.

Kaycee - as far Ty's fan base I don't know that it can be explained in a way that makes sense to those who don't get his popularity.

If you read his blog and what people write to him it becomes very clear why he has received so much support.

He never begs for votes, he works his butt off every week, he knows he is not good, he is awkward, he doesn't belong there, everything is true. But he has gotten under the skin of a lot of voters for his approach to the competition. Some of his dances have been good but people only point out his bad ones. So it creates interest and controversy when you got people who loved his waltz and then people who thought it was all wrong. They are seein the same dance but having a difference of opinion about it.

He represents the regular guy - the clunkly clumsy guy who would never go near a ballroom and for some that is what DWTS is all about...not the dancer who is perfection on the dancefloor right out of the gate. He has shown the most improvement and he has a great story arc. You could argue that is all wrong and it must be the best dancer consistently every week but it is hard to predict what appeals to fans.

I do think this is his week to go and I am sorry that a good dancer left before him but I completely get why the fans love him. There are lot of us out there who know if we ever attempted this we would be a Ty on the dance floor. We would listen to the judges and the public lambaste and slate us every week for not doing well that we gave 110% to. Going out and dancing alonside of celebrities who you know are far better in front of millions takes a lot of guts. Sometimes people can relate to that better than they can perfection like Gilles, Melissa, Shawn and Lil Kim who seem not ever put a foot wrong in the judges' eyes for the most part and based on the reviews here. Even when they have less than perfect dance they are getting 9s. Ty bursted with pride when he gets a 9.

Ty is not being a coward by just withdrawing from the competition (ala John Sargeant) or shamelessly begging for votes. He is just doing the best he can and he has said and I quote "if you don't like us vote for someone else." I think the fans are responding to his efforts and some of us enjoy watching him even if he is not the perfect dancer. Yeah, maybe the fans do have it all wrong, I will give you that. An underdog can irritate people.

kaycee I've only watched Ty's dances from FT's clips, but I will watch the rest soon or watch the show on TV. Normally I'd go to ABC on Tuesday morning and vote the 8 times we are allowed for Ty, but this week I didn't because I've reached the point where I didn't want him to stay at the expense of a better dancer - Chuck was my last 'he can go out' celeb! I probably won't vote for anyone else though.

I too can understand why he is still there (I think I've developed a bit of a crush on him ), but it is a dancing competition.

But it will still be worthwhile watching everyone else - you know how these shows work! As Lili27 says, this is no John Seargant situation, so please watch so we can compare notes as usual.

I also do not want Ty in the top 3 because I think it will cause too much of a meltdown and it is unfair to the top 3 contenders.

This year the polls have been very accurate and Lil Kim was falling behind the polls and she really fell this week so even if she had stayed in and danced well I don't she would have won based on her lack of fanbase. She would have at most had one more week because she was coming at the bottom of the polls every week.

The top 3 have very strong fanbases so it could be anybody's guess who will win the competition between the top 3. Shawn and Gilles are very very strong in the polls. For the first time Ty has dropped to the bottom so that is why I think he will go out this week. Plus the judges will not kind to him so it will encourage people not to vote. Hopefully, it won't go the other way. For me, if he does a beautiful VW for Chelsie I am more than happy. I would have been okay if went last week and let Kim stay but that is just the way it goes.

I guess I responded quickly to Kaycee because she seemed at a complete loss as to why Ty had a fanbase and exactly why they were voting. And I agree it doesn't make sense if you were just basing it on dancing ability and not following his story.

I absolutely agree that, behaviour wise, Ty is doing nothing wrong and, as you rightly say, he's certainly no "J Sergeant" who was quite shamless, it's just for the life of me I cannot see the attraction he clearly has for so many people.

He has about as much personality as a dead daffodil; if he was older I would suspect he'd had too many face lifts which has made his face unable to move, as he seems completely devoid of expression, feeling or anything.

And as far as dwts is concerned, he can't dance .... and I honestly thought in this series people were voting with their heads and basing their votes on the dancing, as, until Chuck went last week, all the weakest dancers were being voted off.

I now have an awful vision of the final being Ty and Shawn :yawn: :yawn:

There are a lot of people who would wholeheartedly agree with you Kaycee as the US boards are in meltdown over this. Some are calling for Ty to step down and to bring Lil Kim back with a tremendous amount of anger at Ty and his fans.

I don't know what the answer is for people voting with their "heads" as you say other than to eliminate public voting and leave it up to the judges to decide but even then you would have anger at the judges, i.e. they play favorites, they don't know what they are doing, should be fired, etc.

I do think that the internet plays a big part in voting as the info about the contestants gets out and that affects voting. Derek had been twittering about Lil Kim showing up 2 to 3 hours late to practice every day and he was frustrated with her especially with 2 dances to learn. I don't think Derek did her any favors by doing that because it made her look like she was not commited or had a good work ethic. An interview with Maks yesterday he felt there something going on behind the scenes and she was not emotionally handling the pressure of the competion well. Unfortunately that stuff gets out and affects voting.
Even with lack of practice she came out and danced better than others, so absolutely, she was the better dancer and it was unfortunate she was voted off. I loved her sparkle.

I hate that SCD and DWTS gets mired in all of this and kinda destroys the feel good aspect of the show. In a perfect world the best dancers would go out in the order that they should based on dancing ability but it never happens that way. One person can find a contestant endearing and another can find that contestant lifeless. I guess that is the charm of the show though - we all see different things and you never know what is going to happen.

And as usual I see things diametrically opposed to almost everyone here:

Ty is very sweet and HUMBLE about what he's doing. He's the only likable one left. Although I did like Lil Kim, too. She was cute.

Melissa is not a "Star" by any stretch of the imagination, but she is a Professional Dancer. There's no way she should be on this show at all.

Plus many of the Melissa fans are actually Tony fans and state it in their posts. They are thrilled he has a contender this year and want to see him win after being saddled with the older celebrities. They don't want to see a Hough or Ballas for the win this year. Maks complained about Melissa's dance experience when he was competing but now he says he wants Melissa to win because he is supporting Tony. And so it goes.

As much as I disagree with the result, I certainly do not think Ty should step down (unlike John Sergeant, he does try hard), and I also think it totally unfair people should feel angry at him - he can't control how people vote.

From what you have said, it seems Derek did Kim no favours. I wonder why, it seems unlike him. I wonder also if his "He loved her the best" (or whatever he said when eliminated) was something of an act? I didn't take to Kim at first - her talk about being in prison etc put me right off, as I thought "wrong time-wrong place" but she changed my mind - like you I loved her sparkle.

I also agree that in an ideal world all the weakest dancers would be eliminated and the best one would always win! Do you dance? (I have the impression that you do) and if so, and if you have done 'proper' competitions (as opposed to dwts & scd) you will know that the judging is just as "political/biased" there as well!

We all get yelled at when learning to dance! It's all par for the coarse! Although I'm a competitor, I'm a firm believer in the power of beginners classes and social dances (as opposed to competition). They are huge fun, and you can get to meet to great people.

What are the polls showing now Lili27? I suspect Ty may go out this week, but he has a huge army of fans who are multiple voting, and who may not bother with polls, so it will be very interesting to see what happens tomorrow night. I know he's not the greatest dancer, but he has certainly worked very hard to get where he is now and if people aren't happy about it, then they should vote for one of the others!
