Loved Derek and Joanna's Paso - amazing choreography. Would love to see their freestyle.
Glad Dmitry stayed in hold but I'm still not a big fan of dmya and what was with that ring - talk about over confidence!!!
Kelly should have gone out- She is the weakest dancer out of the top 6 (including Mark) and was better at the beginning, Aaron was a better dancer but was too cocky at the beginning and put people off but he grew as a dancer and a person throughout. Aaron was definetely not the public choice though

Did Joanna not do that dance in week 1?

Normally on DWTS in the semi final they repeat a dance with different music and choreography

am absolutely loving these clips.

thanks force ten.

I'm loving the guest spots too, Susan Boyle and Michael Buble were great, and the pro dances that went with their songs.

It's time Strictly had some "different" guest spots, this year's mostly have not been a success IMO

Yes, I noticed that because I am following SCD. I noted right away he took Craig's line and the look on Dmitry's face was priceless because he looked so pained that Len wasn't happy with the QS.

Spoiler
What is it about the US and the word w*nker? Doesn't anyone understand it's a rude swear word and wouldn't be allowed on British tv until well after 9.00pm? But then, you have a dance called the Sh*g which caused huge amusement here when it first became popular.

Spoiler
I know. Someone should slip the US censors a note because if they knew they would not let it go through. I guess it is the difference in slang. I am glad you explained because I think of calling Len a ****** calling him an "old fart" a mild insult but not derogoratory. It is just not a word used in the US. I live in N. Carolina and they shag here and it ain't making babies

Spoiler
I did like Aaron and was quite impressed at Len's speech to him at the end. It's a shame that he just didn't get the public support.

Spoiler
As much as we don't like it getting into the finals seems to require more than just great dancing. All the elements to be in place, improvement, wow factor, personality appeal, partnership between pro and celebrity, fan bases, ringer/not ringer. I think it were simply the best technical dancer, the public would not be as invested in any of the dancing shows.

Hi guys! Not posted on here since the series started as I just couldn't get up to date with the shows and didn't want to know who went out before I'd seen them!

So in an effort to catch up -

I loved the tributes to Patrick Swayze and Michael Jackson (especially the Patrick Swayze one ). Tom and Sam are both very good this series and the camera work is much better that usual and far better than on SCD. Has anyone else noticed how miserable a lot of the audience look? I loved Baz Luhrmann as guest judge - so different to Michael Flatley. In past series of DWTS I have FFd through the results show, but I liked a couple of the guests this year, so watched them and I noticed that some of the pro dancers are not those paired with celebs. Has DWTS always done this? I've spent so much time this series peering at the screen ,trying to work out if I recognise some of the pros in the pros dances! Presumably these pros are in the background helping with choreography, etc.? And why can't Bruno stay in his seat??? Two of the female celebs were simply too tall for their male pros - Kathy & Macy - and I thought that was unfair (good job they weren't contenders). Scoring was all over the place in the first few weeks too! Team Paso was fab but Team Tango was so much better! I loved the new style double elimination weeks with the 'dance off' dances - made for very exciting viewing!
Spoiler
The Dance Centre piece weird and quite rude for an American show - loved the bit where they pretend they think Dmitry is the celeb and Mya is the pro. The viewer's competition idea worked well as I loved the Paso routine - Sabrina and Mark looked great and were fab! The decade theme was a great success.
I thought DWTS was experimenting too much over the last couple of series, but maybe it was worthwhile as the format for this series is my favourite so far.

Natalie & Alec - Fab Rhumba & Bolero - didn't like their Paso music - sorry to see them go out.

Michael & Anna - She struggled with him at the start - his tongue made me laugh - their Paso music was bad - such a nice man and he grew on me.

Louie & Chelsie - Loved then together and loved seeing Tye again - I still have a soft spot for him - loved her AT dress - good Jitterbug - never real contenders though.

Aaron & Karina - He seems a bit emotionally fragile? - their jive was fantastic and deserved 10 (was he on something that night??)! How on earth did he get in the dance off from the top of the leaderboard?? Karina is very emotional too!
Spoiler
Thought their Samba was over marked. Not a real contender for me. Such a nice young guy and thank goodness he held it together when they were eliminated.

Kelly & Louis - She is a bit of surprise to me - one of my favourites now - loved her Paso dress, but not the music - loved their jitterbug and those fringed Salsa trousers were hilarious! - I love them as a couple as he is so good with her
Spoiler
- not good enough to win though although I'm glad they made the semis
Mya & Dmitry - Sorry but her experience shouts out in every dance and she is far too close to a pro for me - she is already a very accomplished dancer and a choreographer - love Dmitry though - thought their AT was cold - they didn't deserve 2nd in the group Mambo dance - I hate the way she questions Dmitry so much and she constantly watches them in the mirrors in training to see how each move looks - far too much experience for DWTS, she could almost sit in Carrie Anne's seat! - not much foxtrot in their Foxtrot even for the USA & I agreed with Len about their choreography in general -
Spoiler
I had just said to my friend that they know they are going to get a decent score from the judges every week, so their choreography is purely going for the WOW factor to get the public vote the whole time - and then you see her discussing this with Dmitry and admitting this is how they will keep going. She is in charge in that partnership. Not impressed and I hope they don't win.
Donny & Kym - Great arms for a man - loving him to bits and she is a very good teacher and now one of my favourite pros - AT was fab with great music & dress and I was so glad they beat Mya - loved their Jitterbug - thought their Quickstep was hard -
Spoiler
their VW is the best I've ever seen on DWTS , just FANTASTIC! - loved the Len is 'arty farty' and Bruno is 'airy fairy'! Should have done Paso to 'Prince Charming!' So glad they made the semis and they would be my choice to win out of the last four, even though they are not the best technically.
B]Melissa & Mark[/b] - I thought they were often hard done by - loved their Charleston & AT (two of my favourite dances of the series) - I was hoping they would stay in the competition longer- what was going on with his hair this series???

Mark & Lacey - Lacey seemed a bit sulky/moody this series - loved her Paso dress - terrible Samba - he had great lines even when he was doing jumps - I thought Lacey was quite off with him and he had a raw deal having three pros in the week he was eliminated. I really liked him and again I was hoping they would stay in the competition longer.

Joanna & Derek - Not so keen on Joanna and although she is a good dancer, she's a little cold and clinical for me - I wish she'd stop waving with both hands to the audience and making a little bowing/praying movement to the judges - there is just something that puts me off her and I feel she can be rather dismissive of Derek - did well in AT and I got the impression she'd rather be partnered with Maks - do Maks & Derek get on okay??? - in the Rhumba I thought she was performing for the camera and it was a bit jerky -
Spoiler
says something about Mya's experience that Derek looked at Mya's Ballroom for comparison to theirs. Fab Futuristic Paso - Derek's choreography was a stroke of genius.

Whew! Finished!

Thanks Buddy, a great recap of the series so far. I'd forgotten some of the things you pointed out. And I agree, it was lovely to see Ty again. I'm ever hopeful that Jewel will appear in DWTS one series and we'll get a dose of Ty every week.

I don't think Joanna is cold at all; she sees Derek as a goofy younger brother and I think they have a great relationship.

That would suit me just fine! I might start text voting on the abc website now that I'm up to date!

Thanks for this Lili - we need Hector the steadicam man on SCD, as he is great at making sure we see the feet on DWTS!

I agree Lili. Donny will have to get a huge number of votes to avoid being eliminated. Shame as I suspect Kelly would have been bottom if Donny's Tango had gone to plan. But she did well though and it could make for an interesting finale if she gets through. Mya was excellent but I still don't think she should be there. Joanna does nothing for me so I wouldn't be particularly heartbroken if she was eliminated (although I love Derek).

Spoiler
I don't think it will be Donny who will be eliminated. I think it will be Joanne. That is a shocker because she is getting high scores and Derek is so popular. I think Joanne and Kelly will be in the bottom 2 and Joanne will go, thus the "shock" elimination because Kelly is the weaker dancer.

For those interested post dance interviews. Sorry for the sound quality, the press lines are noisy! And the annoying commercial at the beginning.

I don't know if it is me but I get a sense that there is tension backstage amongst the couples over Mya's dance experience.

There is indeed tension, seems like the other girls are bitter about Mya's supposed dance experience. One of Kelly's twitter posts after DWTS last night:

Quote:
“my votes went to @joannakrupa because if i could pick anyone to be in the final its her she and i started this show with no dance experience”

Thank you so much for those, I am not sure about tension backstage but can I just say I would love Kelly Osborne to win this. I know she is not the best dancer but her obvious enthusiasm and genuine joy is so endearing and contagious.

Most performers with a genuine talent like Donny and Mya are going to have some dance background. It is not their fault that Kelly is famous for being a reality tv star. Joanna poses for playboy. Maybe they should make the show for reality tv stars and Glamour models instead.

I admit it has been very hard for me I always seem to champion the celebrity who comes in with very little dance background and is a combination of personality and perserverence along with how they on with their pro.

But for the last two weeks I have just thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular dancing of Mya and Dmitry. His choreography his fresh and exciting when he stays within the ballroom rules and he has a partner who can do it justice as she has.

But I absolutely understand not wanting her to win it on principal and having the win go to Kelly, Joanne or even Donny.

Joanne took ballet lessons as a child..

Did you not like Mel B DWTS and Alesha Dixon, Jill Halfpenny on SCD as well?
They had dancing training as well.
