Joanna had to stop the ballet lessons when she was 9. If that gives her an unfair advantage, then that would also exclude many other female celebs. You can't really compare her situation with Mya's.

Then they should just have reality tv stars, glamour models and sports people.
Most singers are going to have a dancing background.

I don't really have a problem with Mya being on the show. You could argue that anyone who plays sports for a living is fitter and more used to training etc than other people. Donny isn't the best dancer but he has had a lot of experience in front of the camera. Actors are used to portraying characters which helps in certain dances and so on.

“Did you not like Mel B DWTS and Alesha Dixon, Jill Halfpenny on SCD as well?”

I loved them all. I wanted Mel B. to win and was disappointed when she didn't. Like I said I am conflicted about prior dance experience. On principal it seems only fair.

My point it is never going to be a level playing field and that is what people seem to want every year.

But then people will complain that the dancing quality is poor. If they have experience and do really well then they have an unfair advantage. Then there are all the complaints about personality no matter how well they dance - too reserved, too out there, no personality, too much personality, too this, too that. There is just no way you can have a celebrity who will please all the viewers.

I think that it is good that they mix it up with people who have dance experience, some dance experience and no dance experience. I can see why the network brings a celebrity on who has dance experience. It raises the bar for everyone and increases the competition. I think I now get where Dmitry is coming from - if Mya comes out and does a safe dance no one is going to impressed. She has to up the difficulty level for her level of skill (with no gimmicks though).

Then every so often you have a celebrity like Apolo who had no dancing experience and it was magic on the dance floor. Who was the best celeb without dance experience on SCD because to be fair I have not seen enough videos to make an opinion.

It would be an interesting season indeed if they could find 12 celebrities who have nada dance experience and let them have at it. Would it be possible for the BBC or ABC to pull it off?

Do we know exactly up to how old Mya had her tap dancing lessons? Just because she did tap dancing as a child doesn't make her a professional ballroom dancer. She's clearly very talented but I also think that out of all the celebs she's the most driven into perfecting her routines.

As I said, I don't really care about prior experience. Mya isn't a professional Ballroom dancer and I enjoy her routines. That's all I care about.

I don't either. People vote on these shows for different reasons, and that's fine as everyone's different. I like Mya because she's the best dancer out of them all. Her journey perhaps might be boring to some but for me her dancing is what makes me sit up to watch.

The wrong person went Not unexpected though. The celeb who has finished at the bottom of the leaderboard for the last 2 weeks should have gone.

I was sad that they went. Suspected they might though. I enjoy the partnership and the excellent dancing. Be interesting to see who wins now.

I have seen SO many comments on the message boards that people don't want a Hough/Ballas win again.

Spoiler
I can understand that as they have been pretty much non-stop the last few seasons. But I'm a Derek fan and wanted to see him go through! Plus I did think that Joanne was a better dancer than either Kelly or Donny. If I had my way I'd like an all girl final with either Kelly or Joanne winning but there you go, not to be!

Where do you get the idea that Alesha had dancing training before Strictly? She never went to Stage School, had no dance lessons as a child as her mother couldn't afford them, and the only dance she did was boogying around on the stage with Misteeque (sp?). She has said many times that she had no previous dance experience.

Part 1 - Reprise of Mya & Dmitry's Salsa

Part 2

Part 3 - A themed dance celebrating the film "Nine"

Part 4 - Alicia Keys

Part 5 - Leona Lewis

Part 6 - The Bees Gees with Melissa Mycroft & the pros

Part 7 - Elimination

What on earth have they done with Leona? That dress was horrible (IMO). And I didn't think much of the song either.

At least the Bee Gees were marginally better than they were on Strictly although it was still a song "that only dogs could hear" as JohnfromWales put it so succinctly.

I think it's going to be an interesting Final next week.

Thanks John from Wales for making me laugh this morning and to Force Ten for all the links and making it possible to enjoy DWTS so much this year.

Really disappointed with result. I wanted Joanna to win. I don't like Kelly, Donny's a show off and Mya has dance experience. Going for the lesser of three evils, I'd say Mya should win but I don't really care all that much. Disappointing end to the series for me after last series' brilliant result.

Pretty much agree with everything you've said there. I could cope with the results if

Spoiler
Donny were to win as he in entertaining, and I find him much less annoying than Marie was, but I was really rooting for Joanna from a few weeks in. Mya is the better dancer, and I'd be ok with her winning, the dance experience doesn't bother me so much. I don't think Kelly should win, and I think Joanna was a far better dancer.

Spoiler
It's strange, but I really didn't take to Joanna for some reason. Maybe it was the sight of that dreadful old goat Hugh Hefner in the audience supporting her every so often which made me cringe!

I don't want Mya to win even though she's the best dancer - partly because of her previous dance experience and also because of the fact that they decided to go for the WOW factor and ignore technique and the judges comments. I'm now rooting for Donny although all credit to Kelly for getting through to the final. I still can't stand her mother but I think she's great!

Even though I'm a fan, when I saw Hefner on her VT on Monday night I cringed. He's very creepy.

I'm not that bothered about Mya either, she's a great dancer but I find her a bit boring. As you say it's always about the wow factor. I would like Kelly to win now though as I find her exceptionally endearing. She's not the best dancer but I love her and Louis together.

Agree with most of what you said except wanting
Spoiler
Mya (trying to make the grey part longer so it doesn't give it away)
to win.

Spoiler
I was really disappointed with the result. I didn't know if I wanted Joanna to win (would have judge from the final dances) but she was one of my top 3. I think the my top 3 has gone out the last 3 weeks. I love Derek's choreography and can't believe that we wouldn't see their freestyle. I think Joanna, Aaron and Mark would have made a better final but maybe the final 3 will me.

I like Donny and he was one of my fav but I was really disappointed in his semi final dances but out of the 3 i suppose he will be the one I would like to see win. Most entertaining person left but not the best dancers.

Mya is a great dancer but she never impresses me - she never seems to let go and have fun in any way . I have a feeling she is going to win just like I had the feeling Joanna was going out. I don't care about previous experience but Mya seems to have more than most and she did do a type of Argentine tango in Chicago. She just never made me excited to watch her dance.

Kelly is a good dancer but after the initial that she was good she hasn't really impressed me but I'm glad that Louis is in his first final.

As for the Hough/Ballas thing why does it only seem to effect Derek?? Julianne and Mark has won twice whereas Derek has won once and this is the second time he has came fourth the worst position except for first out. I know Jonathan and others have a worst record but it only seem to be a problem when Derek is the last one in because the year he won with Brooke people started saying they didn't want a Ballas/Hough win - it should be about the celeb and partnership anyways and Joanna was better than Kelly and Donny in the semi final
