I think I would set up a ratings thread for the I'm a Celebrity forum, since there are ones in the X Factor and Big Brother forums.

It's very likely that IAC will still hold the crown as the most watched reality show in the UK, but how will ratings do this year? Here are the official for the start of each previous series:

Series 1 - 6.74 million
Series 2 - 10.31 million
Series 3 - 10.54 million
Series 4 - 9.52 million
Series 5 - 9.64 million
Series 6 - 9.34 million

Ratings have declines fast since Series 4 (since ITV1 overused it that year in 2004). What does everyone predict it will get tonight?

I predict between 8.5 million to 9 million viewers.

I reckon an average of 9.0million for the first episode.

The series will never repeat the success of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! Series 3 IMO. TV Gold from start to finish!

IAC 3, was abnormally high, episodes were pulling in 11-12 million on a nightly basis. It was gold though, and it did hit the headlines more than any other series.

I think the ratings have dropped because we've all seen it before. Even though last year episodes rgularly pulled in n impressive 8-9 million, it's nothing new is it? I thin the original attraction was seeing peoples roughing it in the unknown, facing horrible trials.

That said, I think the lineup and interaction makes a difference. Series 4 and Series 5s' casts just got on, whereas last year there was a more interesting interaction.

I doubt this year will improve just because it's in it's seventh year. But I do hope it sustains it's figures and audience share.

Launch show: 8.7m (38%)

200,000 down on last year's launch show, but still had the same share. The episode began with 9.5m, peaking with 9.8m at 9.15pm before declining and ending with 7 million viewers during the final 15 minutes. That worries me slightly - it suggests not enough was going on to keep people watching for the entire episode but it still had a very healthy average and was well up on what most shows would get in that slot (bar Doc Martin which did abnormally well) and despite having declined over the years, it is still a ratings blockbuster.

Also encouraging for ITV - 46% of all 16 to 34's watching TV last night were tuned into I'm A Celeb.

Bump this thread
people asking about the ratings.

8.7 million is still OK, as well as the 16-34 audience it holds, though I am surprised because it features mainly older celebrities.

7 mil is great for ITV at 10 pm, its had a tough time topping 2 mil in that slot so 7 mil is understandable at 10.15pm.

I enjoyed it more than the last two series put together.

Is 6.5m the lowest rated IAC show ever?

It was up against Spooks which was also gonna be a challenge - especially as it was just a HLs show (not eviction night etc.). It'll be interesting to see how it does tonight when it has less opposition.

I doubt it was anywhere near the lowest as S1 averaged at 6.74 million, so some of those episodes MUST've been under 6 mill

I think that this year will be a bad year for reality tv...

It had a bad night. I'm sure it will bounce back tonight.

It bounced back

Well not by much.

That still looks very low compared to what this show usually comes to expect isn't it?

I can't see how anybody can make the excuse that 'Spooks' stole all it's viewers the other night when 7.1 million last night implies that 'Spooks' only stole about 600, 000 of potential viewers.

The third show last year got 7.7million

This is my first IACGMOOH and compared to most shows these ratings are brilliant!

But compared to its previous ratings, it is very far from brilliant.

Yes but ratings are down all over the place

Exactly. Bar the soaps, 7m is excellent for shows nowadays. Indeed, it's mroe than the likes of Casulaty anmd Holby City than the BBC fling at us regardless.

Oh and indeed, Spooks.

Interesting night tonight though. Up against Waterloo Road, a tough challenge. Live trial should get more people in though.

You should have watched it from the beginning. Was so much better back then, but looking back, it might seem boring.

Think everything's been in the beginning because it's new and fresh. But the Tony Blackburn series, looking back, does seem admittedly slow compared to this one.

Indeed, this one seems of the best so far. The rating's drop is simply channel-wide, not just restricted to IAC.

You've got to be joking surely?

The one with Nigel Benn, Rhona Cameron, Christine Hamilton, Tara Palmer Tompkinson, Uri Geller, and Darren Day???
Hardly a dud between them. The show was full of big characters, not just one or two that the show has begun to rely on too much in later series.

That was probably the best series and was action packed compared to later offerings.
The forum at the time reflected this and was definitely my best forum experience by far on Digital Spy.
