Anyone use BT Call Sign? Do you need a special telephone?

Hi all,

Does anyone use BT Call Sign?

Do you need a special telephone?

Thanks,

Steve.

I've used it.

How does your current phone ring?

If it goes 'ring ring - ring ring' and does not play a 'tune' like many new cordless phones then you'll be fine - You can normally select a normal ringing tone on a DECT which does have a crazy tune.

So most phones are fine!

We have BT 6210/6200 twin DECT cordless system.

It does have several "musical" tones to choose from, so if I change this to a basic "ring-ring" tone we'll be fine ?

Thanks,

Steve.

Yep - will be fine if you put it on a normal Ring Ring tone.

Will just do a single ring per ring rather than the double one - when call sign number is called.

Have you looked into the possibly of VoIP rather than using call sign?... Depends on what your need for the other number is really

Yeah, I'm looking into VOIP at the moment - I've already got BT Broadband Talk Anytime and a Skype account.

It's just that BT have said I can have Call Sign for no extra money due to the way the calling features are worked out - something like I can have 4 for the price I am paying but only have 3 (I think) and my parents can use the Call Sign number.

No problem.

Took me a good few call sign number changes until i could get a number which was not getting lots of sales calls and calls from random people asking for people i don't know

I had call sign too when I had a BT line, as the charge was the same whether you had 2 features, 3 or 4.

I was paying for Caller Display and Call Waiting, so added Call Sign and 3-way Calling.

When BT introduced BT Privacy at home and I could get Caller Display for free as part of that service, I dropped Call Sign and 3-way Calling, so just paid for the one item of Call Waiting.
