RDR-HXD870 EPG Recording

Dear All,
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to set up the system to vary the record start and finish times to around five minutes either side of every program when recording items directly from the EPG listing to overcome potential program delays.
It may be covered in the user manual, but as it's about as thick as a small bible, I may have missed some small print somewhere and it only seems to be achievable on an individual program basis. (It can be done on the SKY+ box.)

If so, how please

Are we talking about the Guideplus epg or the Digital epg?

Digital epg:

1. Press guide
2.Select a programme using the arrow keys
3.Press the red button
4. To change the start time, press the left/right key to select the start time, then press the up/down to change the start time.
5.Repeat for the Extend time

Note:You cannot change the timer settings with EPG Link set to ON.

Guideplus epg:

1.Press guide
2. Select a programme using the arrow keys
3.Press the red button
4.Select schedule in the menu bar
5.Select the timer setting you want to change using the up/down arrow key and press the green button(Edit)
6.In the left column, select an item using the red button(back) or the green button(next) and adjust the start/ stop times, using the number buttons or the arrow keys.

Thanks for that TVD. Instructions followed, and have been able to extend the finish time, but strangely system doesn't seem to allow me to change the start time. (EPG Link is OFF - as you rightly point out, with it on, I cant change anything.). Query here is, having changed the timer for one program, will the system now be set for all others?
One thing does puzzle me though; I have configured both the Digital and Guideplus Program Guides and when pressing the "guide" button to view the schedules, both seem to be "fused" together, ie the Freeview channels and the SKY channels are mixed in with each other. Have to be careful to observe the program source (eg D or Line1). Think I'll stick with the Digital EPG on the Recorder and the EPG on the Sky+ box.

cheers

As for changing the start time,I was following the manual, haven't tried it myself,I will try it and let you know, whether it it possible as stated in the manual.

I doubt it will set the changed times for all your other timers.
Best thing to do is go in to the timer list and make the changes to all the scheduled timer recordings.

As for the Guide, thats how it is laid out, with all your elected channels, whether from the internal freeview tuner or an external tuner e.g satellite
As you have Sky+,then the easiet route to take is to select the Digital epg,by going in to Initial set up and choosing Digital epg, instead of Guideplus epg.
The digital epg also has series link.

I'll be very interested to know if you do manage to slip the start times. (if not, perhaps it might be worth suggesting this to SONY for inclusion in future firmware upgrades.) I will now separate the Sky+ Guide from the Sony Freeview Guide.

You can change the start time, but it is a bit longwinded. You have to make sure that EPG link is turned off as per a previous post. As also stated in a previous post whilst it allows you to alter the end time, it doesn't allow you to change the start time. You need to OK the timer setting with the unaltered start time, then go back into the timer setting again, then you will be allowed to update the start time.

Many thanks.
I'll give it a whirl as soon as I can get near the telly!. Tonight (Saturday) seems to be reserved purely for junk watchers; and as I'm outnumbered, I guess I'll have to wait a while...

cheers

To change the start time in the digital epg.
1.First set the timer via the epg, exit out of the epg
2.Press the Timer button
3.Highlight the timer recording, you want to change, using the arrow keys(up/down/left/right)
4.Press the right arrow to modify
5.Using up/down keys, change the start time or end time.

Note, you can't change the start time in the Guideplus epg.
You can only extend the end time,by increments of 10 minutes.
