Yes, I think Dance With Me will definitekly be used for a Tango. In fact I think the dances will be the following:

Bold = definite music IMO

* Johnny B Goode - Chuck Berry - JIVE - K+B
* Dance With Me - Debelah Morgan - TANGO - J+N
* Lost - Michael Buble - RUMBA - G+C
* Call Me Irresponsible - Bobby Darin - FOXTROT - L+D
* Billie Jean - Michael Jackson - CHA CHA - K+O
* Somebody Told Me - Killers - PASO - K+A
* A Time For Us - Johnny Mathis - WALTZ - A+M
* Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby -BB King - QS - M+F (Played with a quicker tempo on the night)

If this is right I think Anton has given Kate music that is too fast for her and Ola could have given Kenny much easier music considering his problems with timing. Having said that, I could also see Billie Jean used for Tango and Dance With Me done as a cha cha. (Wouldn't be my choice though!!)

None of the song sounded Rhumba-ish enough???

The Romeo and Juliet theme A Time for Us is definitely a Waltz song (3/4 beat).

Which one is quickstep? I thought a happy big band tune is more suitable???

Johnny B Goode is definitely a jive song. Gosh it's fast!

eda: okay, maybe Lost by Michael Buble is for Rhumba, as suggested by Erinfan... No other song is even close...

I think it could work - quite wistful and romantic.

A fast version of "Irresponsible" could work.

I hope 'Is You Is...' is the quickstep. 'Call me Irresponsible' is a lovely choice for Letitia and Darren, perfect. The Killers - I very much doubt Kate's votes are affected by the song choice. It's only the Michael Jackson that sounds an odd choice to me. If it is the cha cha, I wondered if maybe the beat is so strong that it helps Kenny keep time (I'm not musical, maybe that's completely wrong) or that Ola is choosing songs he knows well to help him.

Thinking about it, Billie Jean could, just about, work for a Paso maybe and it's a more of a pace the Kate would have a fighting chance at (which leaves Kenny doing a cha cha cha to The Killers - my mind is officially boggled )

I thought that about Billie Jean but then got stuck about what The Killers would be used for and what would then be Cha Cha/ Tango etc etc....

Lost - Gethin and Camilla (Rumba)
Billie Jean - Kenny and Ola (Cha Cha Cha)
Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby - Matt and Flavia (Quickstep)
Dance With Me - John and Nicole (Tango) - Yay Nicole's using my song!
Johnny B Goode - Kelly and Brendan (Jive)
Somebody Told Me - Kate and Anton (Paso Doble)
Call Me Irresponsible- Letitia and Darren (Foxtrot) This was already used in S3 by Camilla and James!
A Time For Us- Alesha and Matt (Waltz)

The more I think about it, the more and more unlikely it seems that Anton would use The Killer's for a Paso for Kate - she just wouldn't cope with it in a million years.

Billie Jean is actually commonly used for the chacha in ballroom & latin dance classes.

You never know, she might pull out something wonderful. Or perhaps they'll slow it down slightly. I just don't see what other dances the tone of the song works for, other than Paso or Tango.

I hate the way the BBC gives artist names which half the time aren't either the original artist or the person who made the song famous.

I had never heard of "a time for us" before so I've just listened to it. Why didn't the BBC just say it's the "our song" music? That wouldn't have been understoodby my generation at least.

'Take Me out' (Franz Ferdinand) is being used again, according to BBC website. Only a couple of week's since Kenny's Paso Doble.

Has this ever happened before?

Full song according to official site (just for fun, and as I like copy and pasting ):

Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand
Johnny B Goode - Chuck Berry
Dance With Me - Debelah Morgan
Lost - Michael Buble
Call Me Irresponsible - Bobby Darin
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
Somebody Told Me - Killers
A Time For Us - Johnny Mathis
Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby -BB King

Billie Jean is perfect for the cha cha

Kelly and Brendan's jive is either going to be spectacular or terrible because the song's so quick, she'll have to be right on the money

They usually use the versions of the song that the couples are dancing to, rather than the original, or "more famous" version. Sometimes there's little difference, but upon occasion, the arrangements are rather different.

As there are only 8 couples, and there are 9 songs in the list, the conclusion has been reached that "Take Me Out" has been left on erroneously.

I'm in my 30s and know the works of artists who were famous 50 years ago as well as those of artists in the top 5 singles chart today. People of any generation being philistines isn't the BBC's fault

That's true.

Why didn't I think of that one?

Sorry about that, ignore me, I'm an idiot.

Don't worry, I didn't realise either, until someone else pointed it out...

Billie Jean is Kenny and Ola's cha-cha. Just heard it on the background in ITT!

Worked well for a rugby player on DOI!

Never heard of "Our Song", but definitely heard of Mathis, so...

I believe the Beeb lists the artist who created the version the dancers have choreographed to, so it makes sense to list that version to help Joe Public know what the music will be like.

Isn't wanting the original artist credited and wanting that song to be listed as "The Our Song" music rather than by its title and its singer a bit of a contradiction...?!

One of my mum's too - it's music that I associate strongly with my childhood along with Steeleye Span, Barbara Streisand and The Mommas and the Poppas LOL - all of which along with Johnny Mathis are indelibly linked to traveling in the back of the car visiting relatives etc
