i guess this is a silly question but can anyone tell me what there preferred settings are for bass and treble in a home cinema set up. my settings range would be from -10 up to +10 and i was wondering what the best set up might be. if you can help then thank you and if you cant thank you for reading the post.

With so many variations of equipment, room layout, etc. there are no real "preferred" settings. It's whatever works for you. The ultimate answer is probably to tweak it with a spectrum analyser but I have heard a couple of systems set in this way and they didn't really sound anything special.

Many high end Hi-Fi systems have no tone controls at all. You listen as the producer intended.

Personally: zero for both... or press "Source Direct"

With Hi-fi the bass and treble controls are to compensate for difficiences in your loudspeakers. If you got really could speakers as Mjk99 says zero is what you should set them to

I also find that the surround sound amps with DSP for creating different sounding arenas/stadium etc are fun to play with for about 5 minutes and then you realise that it sounds best left raw.
