New celebs added to the SCD tour - James Martin (yay! I was so hoping he'd be there) and Martin Offiah. As there is now one more celeb than pro, and Martin Offiah danced with Erin, and there are more celebs to be announced, maybe Anton and Erin will be joining the tour?

(I meant maybe, accidentally left out a word Hard to type when a cat is attacking you from the side!)

That would be nice. I didn't watch season 1 so have only seen bits and pieces of them together but they seemed to get on well and from what I've heard they danced well together.

Oh right LOL! It would be nice if A&E were added though, and still Lesley is mentioned as Anton's best ever partner, and where his fan base stems from.

Yes, that would be nice - I like Anton and Erin and it would also be nice to have some ballroom dancers among all the latin ones. There are usually some pro demonstrations at this sort of thing and it would be a nice change of pace.

Is Maksim in it? Obviously Mel B can't do it as she's on the Spice Girls tour.

No, Maks isn't taking part I don't think. Poor Cheryl had to withdraw injured throwing the show into a bit of chaos!

On Tour with the Dancing Stars: Cheryl Burke Bows Out!
By DEBORAH STARR SEIBEL
TV GUIDE

The show may be over, but the drama isn't. As a nearly sold-out crowd of 6,000 settled into Seattle's Key Arena Tuesday night for the opening of the Dancing with the Stars national tour, the announcer made a statement no one wanted to hear: Due to illness, Cheryl Burke would not be dancing. As loud groans filled the auditorium, you had to wonder what fresh disaster had befallen the show and one of its most popular pros.

"Last night, during the run-through, I was cramping and in pain," Burke tells TV Guide exclusively. "I couldn't even stand up straight." Burke, who was rushed to the hospital, was told that it is a possible case of appendicitis. She will fly home to San Francisco on Wednesday for a second opinion from her family doctors. "I hope it doesn't require surgery," she says. If it does, Burke will be off the two-month tour for an undetermined period of time.

"It's a disaster," says pro Louis van Amstel, who is choreographing the tour and has had to re-arrange his line-up so many times he's stopped counting. Karina Smirnoff has stepped in to partner with Drew Lachey, on top of dancing at least a half-dozen more numbers with van Amstel. "Cheryl can't be gone for more than a week," says Smirnoff. "I won't let her!"

The company arrived in Seattle on Sunday night, giving themselves – they thought – plenty of time to work out the kinks on Monday and Tuesday before the opening night of the 37-city tour. But after Burke got sick, numbers were scratched, partners were changed, and Tuesday became a new dress rehearsal for a radically revamped show. "We had a couple of moments when we ran onto the floor at the wrong time, in the wrong place, in the wrong direction," says Smirnoff. "But that won't happen tonight."

And it didn't. The stars – including Lachey, Sabrina Bryan, Joey Lawrence and Wayne Newton (who sang but didn't dance) – did a remarkable job blending into the ranks of the pros and making the audience forget that anyone was missing. Bryan in particular dazzled the crowd despite dancing with someone she's just started partnering with: Derek Hough. Hough is filling in for another ailing pro, Mark Ballas, who is recovering from a dislocated left arm and won't be able to join the tour until after Christmas, possibly in San Diego on December 27th.. "At first," says Bryan, who is dating Ballas, "it was so weird to do the new numbers with someone else. And when Derek and I do the cha cha (the most memorable number she did with Ballas), it's just hard."

But at TV Guide's special booth at the show, where they were having a drawing to upgrade tickets, one fan, 13-year-old Nickolette Ewing of Sumner, Washington, said that Bryan's presence was reason enough to come to the show. "She's my favorite," says Ewing. "Is she the Cheetah Girl?" asks her mom. When you tell her, yes, she says, "I knew my daughter would be excited about that."

When TV shows take their acts on the road, there is always a question of whether people will be willing to pay cold, hard cash for something they've been watching for free. And then, once seated, and without benefit of the TV show's 15 cameras, whether they will think they got their money's worth. But the answer came quickly on Tuesday night: The crowd loved it. There is nothing like the powerful kinetic energy of a live performance. The band rocked the house. The dancers put on a display of And even with some favorites missing in action, there is nothing like seeing your Dancing heroes in person.

--Hope she gets better soon!

Great article, thanks Lola!

What a shame about poor Cheryl! Hope she recovers soon. The drama from the series has continued to the Tour, this time with the pros!

Here's another one about Marie - she takes her 8 kids on Tour with her!

OMG! I missed this news!

Helio and Julianne are joining the Tour for selected dates.

Helio and Julianne Join the Dancing Tour!
by Deborah Starr Seibel

Dancing with the Stars champs Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough will be taking their act on the road. The Season 5 winners will be joining the 37-city Dancing national tour "for about a week's worth of dates," says Hough, who is vacationing in Hawaii.
The tour, which also features Marie Osmond, Sabrina Bryan, Wayne Newton, Drew Lachey, Joey Lawrence and Monique Coleman, steps into high gear on Dec. 18 in Seattle. "Helio saw that everybody wanted to do the tour and didn't want to be left out," says Hough. She didn't want to be left out, either, but her schedule didn't allow for two months of traveling. "I had a blast doing the last tour and if we could pop in there and do a few dates, that would be great."

While still unsure of the specific cities where they'll sashay onto the floor, Hough says it looks like they'll perform in Indianapolis (Jan. 18), Nashville (Jan. 19), and Greensboro, North Carolina (Jan. 26.). "That side of the country is much more likely," she says.

It's more likely because it's more convenient. Hough will be spending the next couple of months flying in and out of Nashville, working on her first country-music album, for Universal Music. And Castroneves, who lives in Miami, is preparing for his next racing season, which begins in March.

As for rumors of their romance, Hough says she's taking it all in stride. She's already been through this once before with her last partner, Season 4 champ Apolo Anton Ohno. "I know the rumors aren't true so I'm fine with it," she says. "But I feel bad for everybody involved. I feel bad for Helio. I had the same thing happen when I was with Apolo (and broke off her own engagement), so I totally understand."

Hough and Ohno had a mini-reunion at the Dancing finale last week. "Oh, it was so good to see him," says Hough. But right now, she's soaking up the sun and still recovering from the strep throat that got her down during the last week of competition. "The sun is going to be great."
Great interview!

Good Luck with the album Julianne.

I absolutely adore this article!
Written with humour, but expressing the joy of the audience and respect for the pros.
If only we got articles like this over here from Arts Correspondents about Strictly.

The man is Brian Fortuna, who was on the show last year with Shandi Finnessey. The woman is Snow (Snejana) Urbin from season 1 of So You Think You Can Dance.

Great videos, thanks Sari.
They've got Sabrina and Drew dancing together in the thrid video. They look really good together.
I prefer Derek doing the cha cha than Mark. Does anyone know who was ranked higher when they use to compete?

I went on DanceSport and compared Mark&Julianne and Derek&Aneta Piotrowska:

(M&J results on the left, D&A on the right)

Thanks for that info.
TBH I am a little surprised I was half expecting Mark Ballas to have been ranked higher than Derek in competitions. While I much prefer Derek's style and performance Mark does look like a slightly faster mover.
I've seen a few videos of Aneta on DWTS-Poland. Another amazing dancer.

Thanks for all the video links and info:

I must say I'm surprised too by the respective rankings of Derek & Mark. The impression you always get when people talk about Julianne & Mark is that they were Number One ranked, and a great loss to the competitive dance world.

It's interesting that Aneta is also doing DWTS in Poland. Must say in their shoes, I'd do exactly the same. You can only practice and compete in gymnasiums across Europe so many times. The allure of showbiz/TV and the fame and exposure of DWTS is too good to turn down. Plus you're expressing your full creativity with choreography every week. It's a superb format for a trained dancer.

I'm sure all 4 dancers mentioned above are a great loss to DanceSport, however their talents can now be viewed and appreciated on a wider stage so good luck to them.

The world really is Derek's oyster. Already appeared in the West End in Footloose, he could turn to Musical Theatre or any type of TV/Variety production that takes his fancy.

I agree
Derek, Julianne and Derek always seemed to have wanted to get into showbiz, especially music. I guess they are lucky DWTS came their way to make them known. The only downside I would have thought is being stuck with a "difficult" celeb partner.

I think Aneta has gone back to competing, though, but I'm not completely sure.

WOW! They did the move where she threw Derek over her shoulder in a somersault, the same as with Mark in their Showdance/Exhibition on DWTS. She's such a powerhouse!

Another great review of the Tour here:

Joey Fatone has joined and is dancing with Kym ofcourse, and the writer likens Derek to a young Mick Jagger!
