I don't like her dancing, but I'll give her her due - she could quite easily throw the towel in and refuse to take any further part (and I probably would if people were saying about me the kinds of things they're saying about Kate!), but she's continued, and as long as people vote for her to stay in, then that's fine by me - it's an entertainment show with a dance element, that's raising money for charity as well. Good on her, I say.

Actually I'm very poor and can't afford food or shoes.....

And returning to vomit is about right - such is the standard of the posts in this thread

Why do you keep on dropping back into this thread then!?

Surely you've got better things to do?

And Blue Peter isn't campaigning for Gethin?

They didn't wheel out Graham Taylor, Rod Stewart or Billy Zane to give John, Penny or Kelly exposure?

Kenny isn't exploiting the Scottish connection?

They're all using every contact they have to appeal to as many people as possible. Why? because It's for charity and the more votes, the more money raised.

This GMTV/kate garroway conspiracy theory is getting plain daft now!
Not really comparing like with like though Lorna.

Rod is a household name, but the same can't really be said for Graham Taylor or Billy Zane; and yes Kenny exploits the Scottish connection but no other celebrity has daily access to a national audience.

I'm not suggesting any conspiracy - but when I hear her saying she deserves to be there I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I actually shed a tear when Penny went, there'll be no tears or hugs when Kate goes, because I think she's already outstayed her welcome.

Not questioning the right of her supporters to vote for her, but the nauseating vote cadging makes me cringe.

Yep, I've got a sneaky feeling that either the Kate or Kenny train will crash out tomorrow.
No they won't go. Not if the audience votes the same proportion as last week.

Both Kate and Kenny avoided the dance-off by being higher on the audience vote than Matt. This puts them no lower than 5th and 6th place respectively on audience vote - probably a lot higher.

Could be a real shock with perhaps even Kelly and Matt in dance off.

Aaaahhh...you might be right. We just don't know how close they have come to the bottom two so far (i.e. their overall margins of safety might be small). Ultimately it will depend on several factors which change each week (i.e. each couples position within the judges scoring and then the public's voting for each in response to that). Besides, Kenny is all out of patriotic tricks this week...wonder if this will have any effect on his votes?

*Remaining hopeful that either Kate or Kenny will be shown the door tomorrow.*

However much they crash the 'public' (who are they???!!!) might STILL save them!

Can't see why it'd be Kelly who hasn't come near a dance off yet, and her jive looks terrific.

More likely John.

Jive B - I think you will probably be in luck.
By now the balance must be tipping in favour of a taxi for either Kenny or Kate - especially if they split the "'avin' a larff" vote.
However, much as I love John & Nicole, it's them I fear for most this week since they don't really win either the dance or the comedy vote. Especially as John's being Tango'ed

Hear Hear to the OP. I quite like Kate, she can't dance for toffee, so it takes real guts to get up every week and go for it. I love dancing myself, that is watching not doing cos I know how hard it is. Its not her fault that she keeps getting voted in.
I think her and Anton are great as they do not take anything to serious, and I think Kate is quite sexy but doesn't realise it which makes her even more sexy for that.
Go for it Kate.

I didn't say I was comparing like with like - I was saying that they are all using whatever they have at their disposal to generate votes. They were campaigning for Dom on the One Show and thats on every day.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - as long as the money goes to charity I have no problem with kate begging people to vote. Its not like she gets paid more the longer she stays in (or is it??)

You can get closer than that.

If, as seems likely, Matt was second to bottom in the audience vote he got 2 points for that so with the 5 points he got from the judges he had 7 points in total. For Kate to avoid the dance-off she would have to have the same number of points in total. For Kate to have 7 points she would have to get 6 points from the audience vote. That would put her no lower than 4th place with the audience.

Only if Matt was bottom with the audience would Kate have been in 5th place or higher with the audience.

But we don't know that he wasn't bottom with the audience - how can we tell? He was, after all, in the middle of the table, and his dance was OK but not amazing - so you're talking mid table, people thinking he should be safe, and possibly not the dance to sway the floating voters. It's quite possible that he was bottom for all we know.

Still puts Kate 5th with the audience.

Well the daily vote cadging and the 'look at me,' antics last week as she craned her neck to get into camera when Tess was speaking to Kelly and Brendan seems to suggest otherwise.

Initially I thought the childish, giggly, lip biting behaviour from a woman around mid thirties was a defence mechanism against the embarrassing knowledge that she was looking foolish. At that point I did actually feel sorry for her, but not any more. As for the excuse that she raises money for charity, those votes could go to a more deserving dancer; the money would still go to charity.

Last year's struggler Fiona Phillips might have been a poor dancer but at least she didn't use her programme to get the begging bowl out every morning.

Come on Kate it's not too late to recover some dignity. Lay off the facial gymnastics, the canvassing for votes and the camera hogging and those who have lost patience might find rediscover some respect for you.

I don't know - perhaps someone else does - and as for charity if those who vote for her threw their votes in the direction of a decent dancer the money would still go to Children in Need.

Yup, I know - in fact, the "minimum to have stayed out of the bottom two" states for Kate have been posted elsewhere.

My point was that we CAN'T narrow it down because "we can assume Matt was 2nd from bottom" - we just don't know, and that assumption is dodgy.

You are absolutely right, it doesn't prove that she is the most popular (and I'd be surprised if she was).

Here's the breakdown of where she would have had to have come in the public vote each week...

Week 2: 5th most popular of higher (Stephanie goes)
Week 3: 6th most popular or higher (Willie goes)
Week 4: 4th most popular or higher (Gabby goes)
Week 5: 8th most popular or higher (Dominic goes)
Week 6: 5th most popular or higher (Penny goes)
Someone with more maths ability than me might be able to narrow it down still further on the basis of others in the bottom 2 etc, but I think it's clear there is quite a wide range of where she could have been with the public on any given Saturday and still be in.

This isn't to debate her dancing, or whether she should still be in the competition ........
It's what it says on the tin.
Poor girl would be expecting censure for her dancing, but some of the other criticism must hurt.
Big hug!
