Am trying to access the DVD editing menu on the above piece of equipment.
I need to erase a DVD+RW which contains stuff from an old LiteOn recorded.
When I play the disc it show the index page when you can select different recordings, the manual says to press the UP arrow button to access the editing menu, this however does not do anything. Have tried it with other discs with no luck.

Has been nothing but grief since I bought the damm thing

whilst on this page I found a firmware update for this machine

you will need to unzip the file then burn it to disk, hope you can do it or e-mail it to someone who can

this is the link for firmware update

Thanks but I updated it a few weeks ago which helped with a couple of minor clitches.
I have yet to try a brand new disc yet as was hoping to erase old discs for my old recorder but it won't enter the DVD edit menu.
God only knows why Philips didn't assign an actual button on the remote to access it rather than having to hold down the up button (which doesn't even work)

Just to close this case, I took the DVD back to Comet and they returned it to Philips, got it back yesterday and glad to say it's now fixed. They must have just changed the whole unit as I had to update to the new firmware version and the DVD editing screen works
