Picture ' "Fizzing" ?
.....overall i'm quite pleased with my 37 " Toshiba c3030 LCD TV.... I've got SKY HD and its very good... BUT...
...On SD output I've often noticed that grass and landscape when panning slowly (up/down or left/right) the picture seems to 'fizz' - ie the detail looks all 'speckly' as the screen updates the fine grass ect. in the picture...(don't get this on HD - all fine detail 'almost' perfect) 1. Is this typical of LCD screens ? (refresh rate ect) 2. Would a 'real 1080p set (rather than 1080i) do any better ?? 3. Would a PLASMA be better for SD viewing ??? |

Check to see if the TV has any picture noise reduction modes and turn them off. Also, make sure sharpness is set to zero. (It might be wise to bring the contrast down too.)
Now see if that improves things.

I know what your talking about, I am currently having to watch the wifes Samdung, sorry (Not really!) Samsung as my t.v. is away for a repair, the picture on this lcd is alive all the bloody time with "Fizzing" as you call it. This can not redressed with playing with of settings, but with the Sharp that is being repaired this unit laps up SD with solid detail in detail heavy backgrounds etc.
