Hi can anyone tell me which VOIP provider offers the cheapest calls to UK mobiles?

I notice that when you call some countries the landline rate and mobile rate are the same? is there no foreign VOIP provider we can use which offers the same for the UK?

Cheers people

Have a look at www.justvoip.com at around 5p however it's PC/USB based only, and NOT available for SIP use unlike many/most of the other Betamax a/cs.

There's a good Betamax comparison site at
http://backsla.sh/betamax

Just VoIP also works with SIP, has done so for a couple of months or more.

sip.justvoip.com

They just don't detail it on their site.

TFC...

Can you confirm this based on your own recent first hand experience of using a justvoip a/c over SIP via that registrar, or is this just on hearsay/readabout ?

I ask because elsewhere it remains completely unconfirmed, just speculated about everywhere else I've looked/asked/read and I obviously don't want to give them 10 Euros plus VAT plus "take my money fee" only to find it doesnt work.

I can confirm this based on first hand experience, I've also just checked it again on my PAP2 ATA and is still working.

The sip.justvoip.com resolves to the same servers as the others, such as sip.VoIPStunt.com (which I mostly use due to having a number with them and the remains of a years credit from free mobile credit top-up), sip.VoIPCheap.com etc.

You could set it up before credit on a SIP device, just to confirm it yourself, if you have another Betamax account you can call each other free via username to username, maybe even forward a local number (available for free if you know where) to test it for incoming from a landline/mobile.

THANK YOU for that. I've been lucky enough when signing up to o2 Broadband to receive their standard "o2 Wireless Box" modem/router/switch/WAP/VoIP which is a tailored Speedtouch ST780WL and completely unexpectedly it's VoIPable. (as o2 aren't marketing VoIP'ability AT ALL, even have the stuff turned off/hidden by default!).

Had setup for with 2 VoIP a/c's (though only 1 registrar) and FXO/FXS sockets, so keen to exploit them (instead of USB FXO/FXS gizmo I had been using with VoipBusterMate software that had started misbehaving and using 50% of a CPU most of the time!).

Unfortunately just tried using

1) An a/c that IS a JustVoip a/c ID
2) An a/c that has nearly 10 euros credit
3) sip.justvoip.com

That still FAILS here unfortunately - dialing doesn't work, always fails; although box is able to 'log on' to the SIP a/c and get a 'green' VoIP light on the ST780WL box.

HOWEVER
1) An a/c that is an InternetCalls a/c ID
2) some 40 cents on it
3) sip.InternetCalls.com
then that WORKS

Glad I managed to "borrow" a friends a/c - they are logged out, so it's not a case of duplicated IDs.

I wonder if you were using sip.justvoip.com BUT with a VoIP a/c that is NOT a JustVoip ID ?

No using a JustVoip account with sip.justvoip.com, though any sip.betamax works.
