My friend recently purchased a Panasonic GD-67 on Virgin's tariff. He found that, if he had his phone switched off, and a text message was sent to him, when he turned the phone back on, the message was not received for sometimes up to several hours. If another message was sent whilst his phone was on, it occasionally prompted all other messages and they came in a flood.

He replaced the phone with a Motorola c350, also with Virgin. Exactly the same problem occured. If he used his sim in his Dad's or sister's (Nokia 3310) phones, the problem disappeared. Putting their Virgin sims into his phone again causes the problem.

Can anyone shed any light on this matter - do these specific phones have some sort of incompatibility with Virgin?

Thanks.

I think it could be more a case of network congestion, my wife and I both use Virgin sims in our phones and 90% of the time we receive text messages within a few seconds of them being sent. But in busier hours such as just before 9am (when kids start school I suppose) we have both noticed the messages can take several minutes to an hour to be received.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't explain why he can swap the sim over to a Nokia 3310 and the messages are received instantaneously.

Yes but is that at a different time of day?

No - he sends a test message to his own phone - it is not received. As soon as he swaps the sim over to the 3310, it is immediately received.
