Hi all,
I'm building a PC based Jukebox which I intend to load my 300 plus cd's using lossless compression (FLAC or APE) to preserve original quality.
Output will be via the PC card digital (SPDIF), relying on the DAC in my Denon AV receiver to decode thus effectivley bypassing the lower quality DAC of the PC card.
Loading the CD music is is easy, however I also want to record my vinyl collection.
I could connect my Phono preamp direct to the PC line level inputs on the PC soundcard however I do not want to rely on the questionable DAC quality of the PC card. I could buy an expensive souncard (M-Audio or whatever), however this seems a bit ott.
As the chosen soundcard has Digital in, I am considering leaving the Phono connected to the Denon, relying on the Denon's DAC to output via digital, which in turn will feed into the PC Digital in.
I'm trying esablish if this is a viable option because I am unsure if, or how the incoming digital stream (stereo) can be saved to a .Wav file for further processing.
Can anyone advise?
Cheers
Derek
