Advice on Bose audio set-up for bedroom

I would like to install tiny Bose speakers (probably Acoustimass 3 as I prefer the single ones to the double) at ceiling height in each corner of my bedroom. I also want to install a ceiling speaker in the bedroom off-shot.

If I'm honest Bose speakers are as much for show as anything else. I have no knowledge of hi-fi systems so I don't really know what else I need to go with these speakers. My current bedroom setup prior to redecoration is a 20 year old "getto blaster" so I'm not in the market for spending thousands. In fact I may look at getting the speakers second hand to help keep costs down.

Basically my "requirements" are:

1. I want to be able to adjust the volume of each speaker individually.

2. I only want to listen to the radio or my iPod (which I could always just connect to an iTrip [and tune the radio into it] if connecting an iPod dock is not an easy option).

3. As this is for an apartment I don't need serious volume (do I need something like an amp, or can I get away without one?)

I don’t particularly need a CD player, and I won’t have a TV in the bedroom. Can anyone suggest what I need when I’ve bought the speakers… are there any radio units that do what I want - or do I need to piece different bits of kit together to achieve this?

Thanks in anticipation to anyone who is prepared to help advise me!

Thanks,
Jeremy

you would be better off buying an all in one hi-fi thats got dolby surround sound on it. Aiwa ( sony ) are quite good

it is only a bedroom and you would be better spending money in your living room
