I'm guessing three and if the judges get to decide the third it's quite likely that Kelly and Brendan will be that third IMO.

No someone had this posted in a thread taken from the BBC site. Looks like that was all the info given.

I don't know how I feel about this, it makes the public voting pointless.

I like this decision tbh, means we get a decent final consisting of the best dancers whether or not the majority of the public like them as people. Of course, it is possible that somebody could sneak in but there will at least be two decent dancers. Then again, surely if Kate makes the final she will have improved by then?!

depends who they are up against in the bottom 2.
If they were against Alesha or Gethin the judges may save one of those instead.
To be honest i dont really care that the judges pick who makes the finale as long as WE cget to pick the eventual winner.

Im interested to know when this was decided and if it has anything to do with Kates strong fan base. Using this a measure to make sure she goes no further than the semi finals if she keeps getting a large public backing.

If her fan base is that large then it will probably see her through. Take series two, Julian got through at the expense of Aled but Denise was in the bottom two. The final would still have been the same with the judges vote.

The way I read it, there is no change.

On 15th December 4 couples will dance. Judges will give marks and the audience will vote. Two couples will be announced as safe candidates through to the Final.

The bottom two couples will dance off (on pretend date of 16th Dec), and judges will select the third-placed couple for the Final on 22nd December.

If Kate's got enough support to get her to the semi-final she'll probably have enough support to get her to the final, won't she? I don't see why this changes her odds?

I don't like this because I think it means the one voted in by the judges is a lame duck finalist. Much better if at the semi-final it was just the public vote.

This is the semi-final night! ie no change to the current format. No mention on here about the final night. I'm not sure how it will work if results are not done on same night. I've got a feeling it will revert to all Saturday night - here's hoping!

Yes, all too possible.

If the final is pre-recorded... well, that's going to suck, really can't see how it can be, though, surely - too many votes happen on the night in response to the dances. Unless the Beeb have lost it....

I'm pretty sure the beeb have already said the final is on the Saturday (both shows).

It was on the How To Vote section of the SCD site and when I went to look when it was brought up on another thread , I couldn't find it .
In the final it will be as always , IF there are 3 then the public vote will eliminate one couple , leaving two and the winner is decided on public vote .

And the final is over 2 shows on one night

My understanding is that judges will give marks as normal, and phone votes will be taken as normal. Say three candidates X, Y, Z.

X - 3 (judges) + 1 (phone vote) = total 4
Y - 2 (judges) + 2 (phone vote) = total 4
Z - 1 (judges) + 3 (phone vote) = total 4

Then Z will be SCD Champion and Y will be runner-up, as phone vote points take precedence over judges' points.

This was definitely on the SCD site at the start of the show as the pattern until the final when it would revert to all public vote .

So, as I reckon Alesha and Kelly will get into the final, it looks (at the moment) like Matt vs. Gethin for the final place - and I reckon Letitia and John have an outside chance, too...

It seems there's two versions here, one is the judges decide while another is the judge decide one of the bottom two go through. I actually prefer the former, at least we won't see Kate in the final. The judges, being unfair most of the time, will make sensible decision to make sure relatively better dancer go through.
