Why do people eat this tripe? These products are bad for your health and even looking at the packets would suggest that it is not going to taste nice or even look nice.

I've given up on Rustlers since we got a new microwave as it seems to either over or undercook them.

If I do have burgers now I get fresh angus meat ones from co-op. Lovely.

But the Rustlers ones are nice. There's nothing wrong with eating things like this so long as its in moderation.

Well I'm going to be the lone voice here as I prefer Feasters to Rustlers. Look at the meat content and it's higher in Feaster's. "100%" burger where as Rustlers isn't.

I've just about given up on the food thread these days. Used to be about real cooking and decent restaurants, now all it seems to be about is box food and jar sauces.

I first noticed a few weeks ago.

At first I just thought it will be ok, maybe I can carry on as before, but then I noticed that the bap didnt cook as well and ended up soggy.

Since that first soggy bap I've done alot of soul searching and I cant bear to leave Rustlers, but if thats what has to happen in order to make a difference, then I will end it.

@Rustlers: Please bring back the Microwave card thingy

I have discovered that the microwave rib things that Lidl sell are far superior to the Feasters/Rustlers ones, and cheaper, and come in different flavours. Haven't tried their microwave burgers etc.

I must say im not really a fan of either, but i do like the feaster Bagette's the ones you have that little silver wrap to cook it in, makes them go all crispy, my fave is the chicken bacon cheese one

I'm not keen on these burgers - much prefer making ones myself. Used to eat a lot of ready meals when I was younger, but now, I can't stand them

It all tastes like cardboard to me.

Something wrong with your tastebuds then as they are lovely.

Rustlers are the best. Have you actually tried one?

The Rustlers do taste a bit odd to me - not something I'd want to try again

They are the best food in the world for when you get home after a night out seriously drunk, only have about 3 a year but the taste a hell of a lot better than those burgers you get from vans!

Must admit to liking Rustlers Cheeseburgers ........I think they call them 'The Big One'.........

I only buy them when they're on Special Offer though.......

I did try a Feasters one...........I think it was a Pork thing........ribs ?............it was OK, but not as good as a Rustlers Cheeseburger..........

I like the soggy baps..............

I'm exactly the same.
Never buy them at full price but will buy a couple of whatever varieties are on offer.

I'm a foody but will always find a place in my heart for things like this. I'm not a snob and like these dirty treats occasionally. As others have said, they are a snack for when you're a few pints the worse for wear - and if you've got a condiment cupboard like I have - then you can go to town and make them super tasty.
Currently I have a couple of Mexican style burgers in the fridge (£1 each). Thanks to the preservatives they'll be there for me for the next couple of weeks.

Ooh we might try those. reading this thread, I think I may be in trouble at home We got our online shopping delivery yesterday, Sainsbury's substituted Feasters instead of Rustlers(OH is allowed one a week). I just thought one piece of microwavable crap is much like another and accepted it. Will be interesting to see what he thinks.

I remember a episode of River Cottage where he took the Rustlers burger to a lab and they displayed all the chemicals and "meat" in one of them

I vaguely recognised the name so I looked it up in Wikipedia and found this delightful quote:

The brand has also enjoyed endorsement from minor celebrity Gavin Prentice (Over The Wall) who, when interviewed after playing T in the Park, said "All I eat is Rustlers and pineapple jelly"

I'm sure it must say something about Rustlers, but I'm not quite sure what.

Hmmm... perhaps it should read
Quote:
“The brand has also enjoyed endorsement from minor celebrity Gavin Prentice (Over The Wall) who???”

I don't think minor helps the term celebrity in that sentence

The best thing about Rustlers were the adverts.

I actually like feasters, their rib steak and bacon burgers are quite nice.

I have tried both not really keen.

I'll tend to buy a good few packs of quality burgers (I really like the fresh Sainsburys ones) and cook them all in 1 go.
After they have cooled down I put them in the frezzer.

When I fancy a burger just pop one in the microwave for 2 minutes. Job done. Easy quick and simple ready meal (if you plan ahead) and far better.
