Band members who don't sing or play
This is a thread where we name those members of bands who don't sing or play an instrument (no Westlife jokes please
![]() )!The most obvious example would be Bez from the Happy Mondays, who was the band's dancer (I use the term lightly )Any more bands with members who don't sing or play? PS: Apologies in advance for the confusing nature of the post. I'm just trying to get to 1,000 by today

Hippy legends Hawkwind used to have a girl called Stacia who danced on stage with them. I don't think she sang or played an instrument. She often had painted patterns on her body and was nearly always naked on most occasions, not that that's the reason why I used to like Hawkind, mind

Stacia received credit on the early albums, even though she's not actually dancing on them (or was she?).
Early King Crimson albums credit Peter Sinfield as a group member, though he only wrote the lyrics. |

Lesbian Rock band Rockbitch used to have a member Luci who took on the role of "stage slut". She later took up rhythm guitar though.
The band added 3 "Sex Magic Priestesses" whose main function was to engage in various sex acts with the other band members and with the audience. When Rockbitch dropped the hardcore sex and morphed into MT-TV the priestesses just became backing singers. |

The Zutons have a girl holding a sax on stage with them. I can't actually hear her playing.
And there were rumours that Steve Norman of Spandau Ballet just learned how to look like he was playing the sax, and a session guy actually played. |

There was that bloke in Boney M who was only in it due to his dancing skills. It was their manager who was his 'singing voice'.

I read somewhere that Jason Orange never actually sang with Take That - he was just used for his dancing. Glad he was useful for something because he's got a face like a bag of spanners.
Think they have got him singing a track on the reunion album now to prove a point. But then part of the deal of the reunion was that Gary Barlow didn't get all the limelight and all the royalties so the others were 'involved' in the writing and became more involved in the singing. Explains why most of the album is shite then. They should just leave it up to Barlow and let Owen sing occasionally.

He should relaease a solo album as an acoustic troubadour. |

The majority of the Pussycat Dolls really.
Nicole sings most of it, and about 2 of the others sing the rest. |

Didn't that bloke in Madness start off just doing the Nutty dance on stage? Chas Smash I think his name was, although he definitely sang later on.

On a similar theme there was that Happy Mondays rip off band from London Flowered Up who had their Bez equivalent, a guy called Barry, who used to dress up in a giant flower costume as far as I remember.
![]() Fact about Bez: Bez lived in a cave with an African tribesman before joining the Mondays. Nutter

OK - Two obvious ones.
Milli Vanilli (of course) and Tight Fit who did exactly the same thing back in the 80's. |
