Man, I am SO intrigued to see this jive, there seem to be as many opinions as people talking about it... ”

It really is a good dance, you will enjoy it. I really don't like the Kelly bashing (but I'm not a fan of hers). However I don't think this thread is Kelly bashing. I really enjoyed Jill and Darren's jive, it was the first dance on SCD that made me sit up and think, wow I really like this show. Kelly seems actually really nice (and I didn't think I would say that. Still love Alesha and Matt though (they are really sexy, and I love Ola and Kenny.

IF there is any critisism I feel, that it didn't have quite the "bounce" as J & D's Jive, but for me that was only a very tiny part in the middle where Brendan was jiving & she was twirling?

However, the rest of it...........brilliant choreography from Brendan, they both did a very very good job, In particular Kelly went out there and performed/sold it.

Some of the side by side/matching footwork was excellent, after seeing the pro jive last week - in fairness to Kelly she matched Brendan step for step, toe to toe & of course did have great rythym & musicality/timing.

For me I loved it, they both did a great job & over all maybe not a "better" Jive than J & D - but definately right up there with it - overall an excellent job........so therefore I think credit where credit is due, rather than knock her for the sake of it - I think well done!!

Well done Kelly & Brendan........Hope you both "survive" another week.......looking forward to lots lots more dancing from both.

I really don't think anyone is talking about her as if she is God, she was however, the first contestant to get a perfect score (I think I am right in saying that??), and she did do an amazing job of the jive, making it look easy. Arlene is the one who drew the comparison, people are jsut responding to it.

Also, I think Kelly has mentioned a couple of times herself that she wanted to do a better jive than Jill, so she obviously holds it in some kind of regard.

oh give it a rest, and stop trying to start trouble. Kelly's VW was my fav dance from last week's show, and i stated so, i thought it was beautiful. i dont hate her at all. i didnt bash kelly, Arlene compared theirs to Jill's jive and i responded.

Arlene didn't actually say it was better - she said it compares the closest and I think she's right

the timing was excellent and all that was missing was a bit of bounce

the thing with Kelly and Brendan is that you always know it's them dancing, it's Kelly and Brendan doing the jive and Kelly and Brendan doing the paso

when Alesha and Matt dance they become faceless and I get sucked in

I'm sorry if that sounds strange but I'm on quite strong painkillers

Lets face it - Jill was fabulous, a real wow factor to her dance, Kelly's dance was ok, but it didnt make you say 'wow' and I cant help thinking that she just likes looking at herself in all those mirrors....

I'd agree with this. I think also she was the victim of editing when she was talking about Jill and Darren's jive - I think all she was saying was that their jive was spectacular, and they'd love to do something as good.

Something that this is showing up, is how hard it was to get really good marks in the first few series. Len and Bruno always marked higher, but their marks seem to have drifted up. Craig and to a lesser extent Arlene seem to be still on the series 1-3 wavelength. 8s and 9s are bandied about more than they used to. I was watching some Series 2 dances today on YouTube which were getting 28-32 which now would get 30-35 for example.

I thought Kelly & Brendan's jive was great,it blew me away!
I actually think they were abit undermarked,i would have liked to have seen a ten.
I loved the end,esp Brendan's splits! Not too sure about his shoes!lol

Are you kidding?

The op started a thread to discuss something that was said on the show. i did'nt realise that when one starts a thread to have an opinion and it doesn't hold favour to you it means they always hate a couple.

Kelly's Jive was good. but not wow!! she just didn't have the bounce also i think it had quite a big build up that i was left quite disappointed.

I too was totally underwhelmed by K&B's jive, and I've been looking forward to it all week. Not even half as good as Jill and Darren's, no ruddy way! It was't very adventurous.

I enjoyed their jive but then I love watching anyone jive

Tbh though I thought Louisa and Vincents last year was better despite their lack of training.

Lots of bounce

I think unfortunately you're probably right - and as such it built up a huge expectation which is hard to live up to (I felt the same about A&M's salsa last week - and I LOVE them - that the expectations had built up to such an extent that my first reaction was "oh..." rather than "wow!" - do love the routine but it didn't match my hopes, because they were SO high).

Yes, me too, watching some of the previous series' dances is reeeeally interesting in terms of marks.

I guess what matters is the final order on the leaderboard, but expectations are raised when marks even at the start of the series start off at reasonable-ish-not-evil-most-of-the-time. It doesn't give anywhere to go.

i enjoyed their jive a lot, and thought it was on a par with Jill and Darrens first jive. They danced that jive 3 times in competition (I think) and it improved each time. i may be wrong, but I do wonder if people are only talking about the jive J and D did in the final or the champion of champions when they talk about how perfect it was.

thanks, yeah twice ive felt personally attacked in here, when told twice i must dislike/hate kelly to have started this thread. when i dont at all. her attitude is sometimes highly irritating, but i do like her, and enjoy her dancing a lot. i simply dont think tonights compares to Jill's jive is all.

Tissy-i loved Louisa's too, really loved her jive last year.

You're right that they did three jives in competition but the Christmas Champion of Champions one was different to the previous two. I know because I've just found it on you tube and really enjoyed watching it again!

I love the Christmas jive even more than the one in the final. For me, Jill and Darren created magic in every latin dance they did.

Kelly's jive was great, as was Alesha and Louisa. They were just all in a class slightly below Jill. I think Arlene did Kelly a disservice mentioning Jill's jive because it took away from how good Kelly's jive was in it own right.

You're right Jill. I think it would have been better for Arlene not to bring up Jill's Jive.

but to be fair on Arlene it was Kelly who mentioned Jill first.
I have warmed to Kelly a bit more this week though and id much rather see a few other dances go before her.
