HDMI Connection
Hello,
I currently own a Sony DVD recorder which has an HDMI socket and I am about to buy a TV that has a HDMI port but is advertised as "HD Ready". If I connect my DVD recorder to the tv via HDMI, do I still need to buy a HD Reciever/Tunur to display a HD quality picture? Does "HD Ready" definelty mean that you have to buy additional equipment to recieve HD quality digital terrestial channels? Thanks |

yes you need to buy a HD receiver from sky/ virgin to watch a broadcast in HD
however your dvd player an upscaler ? or a blu ray player ? maybe look at a telly with 2 hdmi connections. Its the new scart and you will run out your going in the right direction |

The DVD is an upscaler (Sony RDR-HXD860B) so does this model recieve HDMI digital terrestial broadcasts? As others have said if you want HD now the easy ways are Sky/Virgin HD (£10 a month for Sky, don't know about Virgin) and/or BD/HD-DVD. |
