Wharfedale L19T11W - Any opinions?

Hello everyone,

I am currently in the market for a 19" widescreen LCD TV, with a built in digital receiver and maybe even a built in DVD player (but this in not a priority).

The very little research that I have done so far has been flicking through the most recent Argos catalogue. The TV that I have found in there, that seems to tick most of the boxes is the above mentioned Wharfedale L19T11W, which is priced at £229.99.

So, I am just wondering if anyone has come across this TV and has any useful info about it or alternatively if anyone can recommend anything that would be better, for a similar or more attractive price?

Thanks very much in advance.

We bought a W/dale for my daughters bedroom which matches your discription.

It went back after a week.

Very wishy/washy colours & the DVD was not only mechanically noisey there was a constant 'warbling' on the sound which was annoying during quietier moments. On the subject of sound; very tinny - prepare to feed it through an amp!

Replacement from Argos was an Acoustic Solutions. Same price but no DVD. Very good colours & better sound - just.

It went back after two weeks! It kept switching itself off...................& on again.

My Daughter then saw the light. 'I would rather pay more and have a good one' She said. She now has a Sony

Cheapist I've seen it for is £350.

It seems to be a splendid piece of kit!

I sense a heated debate on the way

I don't see why?, it's to be expected that an expensive TV from a top manufacturer is going to be better than cheap badged sets from pretty well unknown names.

I think this is the set you can get in various colours now as well?.

No dispute from me on the comments here - I've stated a number of times to an extent you get what you pay for.

By my maths if the Sony is £ 350 and the Wharfedale is £ 230 then the Sony is around 52% more expensive.

If you've got that to spend, then fine. Whereas if £ 230ish is your budget then your choice is going to be more limited.

The unfortunate thing is whilst the Sony is worth more it ain't worth £350 - yes £230 great. But the W'dale is only worth half this.

Thank you all for your feedback. I think I have read enough to be warned well and truly off the W'dale, but if anyone has any alternatives that perhaps fall in between £230 and £350 that they can recommend, that would be great!

Or, I am not dead set on it being 19", just want a good quality, reasonably priced TV for my bedroom. I plan to attach it all up to my powered speakers, so the speakers in the TV, don't have to be great.

Any help would be great, thanks!
