The album is great, especially for a debut LP, from a reality show winner nonetheless.

It's phenomental. Stunnig voice, beautiful tracks, powerful, the girl's done good. Spirit is easily one of my most favourite album of the past few years.

According to Perez the Spice girls sold 75,787 copies of the GH this week. Thats more than every other artist bar Leona who has made number one on the album charts for the last two months! talk about poor timing.
To add another blow. If the Spices had released the GH on the 5th they would have beaten Westlife who only sold 49,000 copies of Home! |

Thanks to Haven forums for the figures. |

Well done to Leona. Great figures for Spice Girls too. What people are forgetting is that this is a Greatest Hits. If it was a new album things would be different but when your first three albums sell in sales of over 55 million you can't expect everyone who brought those albums to also buy the Greatest Hits!
Plus they are a 12 year old band who have been out the limelight for several years. The Spice sales should raise once the tour and promo hits the UK. |

So Leona is No. 1 in both singles and albums.
Big deal. She's a manufactured, unoriginal poor man's Whitney Houston/Mariah Carey soundalike who's just a money making tool for Simon Cowell. Nothing to be proud of in my book. |

Well it's not that big a deal for a talent show winner, Hear'say also sold over 300k in the first week with their debut album and did the double as well.

But they were the first. It was far easier for them, whereas everyone since hasn't come close and is now tainted by the likes of Steve Brookstein or Michelle McManus.

Anyway, don't albums sell far, far more physical copies than downloads? |

LEONA LEWIS has left the ARCTIC MONKEYS in the cold and claimed the fastest-selling UK debut album of all time.
Spirit sold an incredible 375,872 copies in a week to storm into the No1 spot in yesterday’s chart. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...icle478224.ece Not a big fan but those are some hefty sales. |

Wow, 14 new albums in the top 40, 7 of which are in the top 10. Not unusual for singles, but for albums
