What a mean (and badly spelled) little comment! I couldn't care less whether Fred or Anton was/is han
dsome, but actually Anton's dancing style is perhaps closer to Astair
e than most of the other male dancers on SCD when it comes to the ballroom dances. I've had a think (and believe me I do know almost all of Astaire's films slightly too well) and I can't think of any Astaire performance that is what people on SCD call Latin. NB he danced to many Latin pieces of music and the first film where Astaire and Rogers dance together is called 'Flying Down to Rio', but he didn't do the camp (perhaps slightly naff?) steps that you get on SCD.
This is Fred and Ginger's first screen duet:

What Astaire
could do is to do partner work (with Ginger Rogers for instance) and then break away and do some totally kick-arse tap, with incredibly complex syncopated beats (NOT the naff ISTD-syllabus tap step ball-changes that are the mainstay of British dance schools!) In fact these two clips (two halves of the same song) are quite reminiscent of SCD rehearsal and then performance footage

Anyway, I'll stop rambling, but don't take Astaire's name in vain, and give Anton a break too - he's arguably the Astaire of SCD...
