This forum for this series has largely been dominated by the pro and anti Kate factions, and her supporters have defended her robustly from week 1.
So why this week has she been deserted. Her performance this week was largelly the same as previous weeks so what happened.

If you were a serious Kate voter, and you didn't vote for her this week, please tell us all why. I for one am fascinated to know.

They've all switched over to IACGMOOH.

Not sure if you want my opinion, as I haven't voted for Kate, but I would think that there's a flakey fringe to the support that gets bored eventually; and/or, as more dancers leave, the positive votes for the fewer survivors begins to build up and eventually sees off the relatively static Kate/Fiona/Georgina type of vote-base.

I would guess they had their medication increased.

They had their fun by voting her in for a few weeks which annoyed the judges but I bet most have had their telephone bills and realised they have paid good money to keep a bad dancer in!

^ that's a far more eloquent way of putting it than I'd've managed, but I'd think both of these factors come into it. There comes a stage in the competition (usually) where bad dancers suddenly stop being saved.

(Though I have not voted for Kate at all so... probably shouldn't be in this thread )

Maybe all those who were voting for the good dancers who've gone instead of Kate, are now voting for other dancers, outweighing the vote for Kate, or rather Anton.

Maybe they thought she had suffered with one injury too many?

That would be my guess too.

I've been reading the forum on Anton's website and it seems that people were voting for him and his "pert bottom" than for her!

Good point, phone bills is the best stopper.

I think a lot of it comes down to the popularity of the ones left...people began to realise that for Kate to go on, someone like Gethin or Matt would have to leave!

In all seriousness, I did wonder if there was an element (not necessarily anyone here on this forum I hasten to add)voting for her because they enjoy seeing middle-aged c-list women ritually humiliating themselves for the public's approval and now that they can make a similar target eat bugs and a crocodile's penis ....well that'd be way more amusing to them.

I think the previous- but- one poster is right; you have now reached a stage where everyone left in is either more popular than Kate or a better dancer, or both.

It's not the first time either that someone not so good has gone just as they have started to do better.

I'd just like to add that I thought the things she said on her exit were very gracious.

I think Letitia was amazing, and John has ability and those two have put so much into it, and have great personalities. Maybe Kate voters thought they couldn't put those two out.

Dom, Gabby, and Penny just aren't that well known or popular with people.

Biggest curiosity is Kenny, but I guess all of Scotland must be behind him. It does seem like he has a good personality too, and tries more than Kate. It will be interesting to see what happens to his support next week. I was never very impressed with Letitia, but for the last 2 weeks she has been fabulous - good luck to her.

Kate looked thoroughly miserable and fed up this week. Maybe her fans thought she needed a break?

As more dancers leave peoples second choices come into play concentrating the vote on fewer dancers.

It's actually possible that Kate still scored highly in the public vote but given the standings on the leaderboard following the judges vote she couldn't muster enough from the public vote to push her over everyone else as she did in previous weeks. Kate can't have come top with the public because if she had then she would have beaten Kenny and he would probably have ended up in the bottom but she could easily have come second and still ended up in the bottom two as follows:

Kate and Anton 1 from judges + 7 from public = 8
Kenny and Ola 2 from judges + 8 from public = 10
John and Nicole 3 from judges + 1 from public = 4
Gethin and Camilla 4 from judges + 6 from public = 10
Matt and Flavia 6 from judges + 5 from public = 11
Letitia and Darren 6 from judges + 4 from public = 10
Kelly and Brendan 7 from judges + 3 from public = 10
Alesha and Matthew 8 from judges + 2 from public = 10

Obviously I have no way of knowing if this happened and am assuming various things including the size of everyone's public support but just demonstrating that we can't assume Kate was abandonned especially given that the phonelines have been open all week and no one knew about the new injury until last night.

My head hurts now so going for a lie down!

good work Marjangles... I never thought of using the power of mathematics

I wonder if at the end of the series the beeb would ever give out this sort of info... would it be covered by freedom of information It would just be nice to know I guess.

Sorry, but this was the case from the very beginning!

Regardless of Kate's injuries, she should have gone as soon as she was able to compete, purely for the fact that she was a worse dancer than anyone else.
I have nothing against Kate as a person, I just couldn't stand the thought of having to watch her dance in the finals - because I'd have felt cheated.
I want to see some fantastic dancing from the celebs that night and Kate just wouldn't be able to deliver that IMO

I doubt severly she was deserted, as you put it. Fact is though, eventually a contestant's time will come - chances are her fan base is the same it's always been, but this was the week where it didn't outweigh the rest of the voting public. I think all Kate fans knew there was only so far she could go and are probably especially pleased she made it as far as she did. Hopefully they won't resort to the spiteful battering of other contestants who she went out ahead of as a way of appeasing their disappointment.

Personally the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth this week - Kate was clearly in a lot of pain and the judges I thought were particularly harsh. She was far far better than the week before and no real acknowledgement was made of how painful it must have been for her to perform that dance. I'm totally not surprised how disappointed Kate and Anton looked after the comments.

Was glad she was in it while she was - but alas the majority rules and I shall continue to watch the other people I enjoy.
