Different versions of songs-why?
You know, I can understand why a song may be given a diffrent version as a remix, or as a re-recorded version many years after the original, but sometimes, there are instances where two versions of the same song co-exist at the same time, albeit with re-recorded vocals. Take, for example, Berri's Sunshine After The Rain. I remember there was a version with an American singer singing the vocal on it, but there was also a version, more common, with a clearly English singer on it instead, which I didn't think suited the song as much.
Also, I remember Cast also had a version of Walk Away with a more casual lyric on it, but the same instrumentation, not a remix, or anything. I think the Jam also did this with That's Entertainment, for I remember hearing a version with a heavier drumbeat on it which I preferred. The version of The Wonder Of You on Elvis's 1 album is also different to what I remember.
My question is, if the song is not a remix, why re-record it with the exact same backing track and release it at the exact same time? I just don't understand it.
