Albums:

1) Leona Lewis
2) Girls Aloud
3) Westlife
4) Spice Girls
5) Katherine Jenkins

Singles:

1) Leona Lewis
2) Take That
3) T2 feat Jodie Aysha
4) Timbaland
5) Mark Ronson & Amy Winehouse
6) Elvis
7) Kylie
8) Alicia Keys
9) Shayne Ward
10) Spice Girls

Quite a come down for the worlds biggest selling girl group. Just goes to show that promo really matters but most of all their fanbase has moved on. I feel quite sad in a way that the girls who changed the Brit pop scene have flopped.

Kylie's return has done worser than the Spice Girls return has due to the fact the Spice's album is perfoming better.

The charts are rather weird at the moment.

Physical releases monday. I wouldn't expect great things from Call The Shots (but then I expected that about the album). It's a great track though.

Girls Aloud will probably go top ten but then won't go top five. Just my opinion butthen they have had X Factor promo.

The Spice Girls havn't done any UK interviews at all except for CIN. I expected This Morning or GMTV stuff but nothing. I think thats to blame for low Spice sales.

Kylie has also had huge promo with her own show and interviews so her floping is also rather weird.

I hope they get a Top 10 with it, it is a great song but arguably less commercial than standard GA fare. The album is doing so well that it might detract from a single being released after it.

I reckon 7/8/9 placing for Call The Shots.

Album sales.

Albums

1 56685 SPIRIT LEONA LEWIS
2 14094 TANGLED UP GIRLS ALOUD
3 13811 BACK HOME WESTLIFE
4 13254 GREATEST HITS SPICE GIRLS

The 2,3 and 4 postions so close.

The number 6,7,8,9 and 10 postions in the charts are also so close. I think they will change a lot over the week.

I think the fact that both records are rubbish are to blame.

It seems as if, in this Country, you're a five minute wonder and can be cast aside like a stale loaf!

Today is Leona's day - tomorrow-?

Well I don't think Headlines is half as bad as people are making out. When you hear the greatest hits it blends in quite well and is a little like Goodbye which is probably their best single ever.

I do think lack of promo has damaged the Spice Girls sales by a huge amount. They sold over 600,000 copies of the Greatest Hits in the US and its all down to promo.

That top 5 album chart looks horrendous. Does this country not have any musical taste? Westlife, Leona, Jenkins!!!

I can't deny I am disapointed that the Spice Girls are only at 10 but I can take comfort from the fact the are only 3000 sales away from number 2.

I think considering you wouldn't even know they had a single and even album out those sales are ok. Take That had several shows about them and an X Factor week with the contestants singing their songs.

Spice Girls haven't even done any interviews! its like they are not bothed but I think the tour might have always been more important anyway.

Really shocked at Kylie's sales. Her album pre sales are a disgrace.

Headlines is a really good song and im gutted its not selling very well!

Does anyone know if they will be releasing a second single before they toddle off? I was hoping we would get to hear W.O.M.A.N. with Geri's vocals as im sure that would do big business as it was cracking when the four performed it at their Christmas gigs

Must go and buy Headlines, again

x

Lee Mead is at No.15 with his new album. I have it and it is great. It isn't all covers although he does a superb version of "Make It With You"!

I can't believe Headlines is only scraping into the top 10. I don't think they're releasing any more singles as they don't have enough time to shoot another video form now until the tour ends. It's a shame they're last ever single is gonna be considered as a flop.

Their single only got to 90 here though, so overall a flop. No radio station here will play that "trash" and would rather play Timberlake and Timbaland 24/7.

I'm all for a varied chart it's just depressing when you see the most popular albums are all manufactured people with pretty faces to sell records!

no 12, then no 4 and now possibly no 7
hardly a flop i say!!

its about chart sales NOT the position. westlife may have gone no 1 with their album but sales are very much down.

Thank God they are flopping, I guess all they really care about is the concerts making them 20 million, at least that will still go to plan.

Manufactured or not, Girls Aloud are fantastic, producing some of the most innovative pop music I have heard in years.

Be that as it may (and i hope they stay top 2), it'd be nice to see albums other than just pop in the top 5 especially when it's near christmas.

There really seems to be a lack of exciting albums on offer this christmas (unless you're under 14)
