Is it true you can lose the picture quality on a HD tv from normal sky digital because there are more pixels to fill?

This is somewhat true. It would depend on the bit rate of the channel in question. Some channels are higher in bit rate than others. Sky channels are crystal clear, but some budget channels are crap, such as the wrestling channel.

If you do not have a HD source connected, then the picture is not made up of pixels. It would be a standard picture, but stretched. The bigger the tv, the crapper the quality.

HD TV's have different pixels, am I correct? eg 1,000 x 800 as a purely top of my head guess! I would assume go for as many pixels as you can when choosing a TV

Yes, but pixels only count if you are going to attach a HD source to it, such as sky HD, PS3 etc. If the input will be standard then you will not be able to watch in HD quality. It would be the same as a non HD telly. This is known as SD.

Response time is paramount if it's an LCD you're looking at!

Don't think it applies for plasma?
