Ive got a Panasonic TH PX70 42 plasma, Pansonic SA - PT450 DVDHomeTheatre system and Sky +.

The TV has 2 scarts and 2 HDMI
The DVD/Home Cinema has 1 scart and 1 HDMI
Sky has the usual 2 scarts and optical out.

Everything works fine apart from not getting sound out of all the speakers . It only comes out of the front 2 and centre for SKY. DVD's are fine.

I had a SONYsystem previous and that worked fine from the same sky box.

Its connected

TV - DVD/Home cinema - HDMI cable
SKY to TV - Scart
SKY to DVD/Home Cinema - Red?white in audio out on sky and in to the red/white aux point on the DVD/Home Cinema.

Can anyone advise? The home cinema doesnt have an optical in so I cant use the optical out of SKY.

Is there a setting somewhere that Ineed to change? Any advice very welcome. I tried 'the tech guys' who Currys told me to ring!! They said turn it off and back on.

Does it have a coax digital in on an orange (usually) phono socket?

If so take a trip down to your local Maplin store and exchange a few pictures of the Queen for a optical to Coaxial digital converter.

If not then you may have to dig the manual out of the bin and see if it can apply Dolby ProLogic to the AUX in. that will generate a surround sound effect from a stereo source (which is all you will get on that input).

It has no form of Digital input which is a bit of a bummer really as that means you will struggle to get true Surround sound from anything other then the DVD.

As I say the best you can hope for is being able to process a stereo source into a kind of surround signal. but it will not be as good as the true Dolby Digital or DTS soundtracks you have on DVD or the surround signal coming out of the Sky box digital out.

Though I seem to recall some previous posts on DS about similar systems to yours where Dolby proLogic could only be applied to stereo soundtracks on the DVD, not to the Aux input. If yours is one of these then you may be stuck with just stereo from the front speakers!

I've had a look at the manual and it reads that you should get sound from all speakers - Did you set the audio input to Aux ?
Or have you tried activating the HDAVI link between the TV and DVD player.

If it's still 'brand new' then take it back. You have been ill advised as with your set up (Sky+) you will want to watch all the movies in lovely DD 5.1....................

Swap it for an amp/speakers from Richer sounds or a 'better' surround system from Currys that can take an optical input - Pannys (and most Sonys) are notoriously deficient in this area.
