WARNING

There is a new text message problem/hack going around on the Vodaphone network.

You may recieve a message starting with either a square and the letter p, or a message saying it is from Vodaphone and stating that they have updated your menu system on your phone and switch the phone off and on.

Under no circumstances should these messages be read, just delete them straight away.

I have recieved this message over 30 times, and after contacting Vodaphone, they have said that it is not from them.

Hope people read this before it is to late.

Cheers

Andy

Text messages can be used to sent WAP/GPRS settings, but it would be poorly-written phone software that allowed information to be deleted via an SMS message...

Its not possible. Only if u follow a web address it gives you on WAP other than that, it just isnt possible.

It could still exploit a bug in the firmware. There was a case a couple of months ago with Siemens phone, where they could be crashed by modifying an EMS message, then sending it to the phone. Also an older case with some Nokia models, where if you change the message headers it will bugger up the phone.
