I have had a number of different portable digital phones at home, and by far the best has been my most recent - a pair of Panasonics. The reception goes far further with them than with the BT and Binatone phones I've had before.
I have a friend who has an old cottage with very thick walls, and they have Panasonics withn a Panasonic relay unit - they've got a big garden and the combination of the Panasonic phones and the Panasonic relay gets reception everywhere.
