There are versions of SCD being produced in 27 different countries.

We can see the US version (DWTS on UKTV Gold), which is fairly faithful to the original.

But I'd like to see a decent compilation of clips from some of these other shows. Maybe with some commentary about how various countries present the show differently.

For example, there is a piece in Radio Times about the Indian show - how they don't do Latin American, but they have a "Bollywood" section in its place.

I'm not keen on DWTS - the choreography is often too over the top for me and I personally don't think they focus on the musicality of the routine like the British dancers

just my very humble opinion!

I watch it, but agree with what you're saying. I also think their costumes (Edytas cowgirl or Indian or whatever it was and Maries uniform) add a hint of desperation.
I do agree though that it would be nice to see some of the other shows. Bet the Italian ones good! (based on Italy being the only other country in the world i would ever want to live apart from good old Blighty)

Raphael Pungin's excellent web site has DWTS, SCD and the Polish version (Taniec z gwiazdami) if anyone wants to have a look at that one:

If he could find clips on Youtube of the other versions, I'm sure he'd put them up, being a complete dance nut.

The obsession has progressed far enough for me that I'd like to see all the different versions...

I know Japan have a version, and I'd like to see it, because they go crazy about ballroom dancing - they all know where Blackpool is, because of dancing. (Or the ones I know do, anyway...)

I've seen a few eps of the spanish version "mira quien baila". It seemed to follow the same format kind of, but had more varied dancing, for example hip hop.
It seemed much longer as well, but I could be mistaken on that!

Italian version is called Ballando con le Stelle. You can see it on youtube. I warn you, you might be disappointed with the standard of the dance. Interestingly, one year was won by a former British Athlete who now competes for Italy because she married another athlete from that country. Naomi Campbell has also competed in it

*laughs* took me a while, I knew it was in my head somewhere - I remember watching her competing (in athletics I mean) and wishing she still competed for Britain!

Did she went on to win gold for Italy? I was a little bit annoyed at the time but love Italy and Italian men so couldn't really blame her

I know she's won a couple of things - the worlds maybe - don't think the Olympics though. I felt the same *grin* but yeah, who can blame her if she found herself some adorable Italian chappy!

It was another athlete, a pole vaulter, who later became her coach, and yes, he is totally gorgeous, so no, I don't blame Fiona at all.

I know So You Think You Can Dance did a little clip compilation of versions from around the world, I would have liked it to be a bit longer - some were brilliant and some were completely bizarre!

I would like to see one for DWTS too.

The Aussie and NZ versions are up on youtube.

I think this Bollywood Group Number is fab, and we should have one on SCD.

Yes, I was just about to say all of series 3 of NZ DWTS is up on youtube here:
http://nz.youtube.com/profile?user=NGAdmin

and you can ask me any questions about it as i've seen all of the series... tbh it's not hugely different. Though I prefer your version. The presenters are miles better and you guys have pro group dances every week which is cool... no one cares about the pros over here.

Would like to see the SCD producers show us a few of the programmes from around the world.

It's quite interesting - on the Polish version, I just saw one dance being given a 3 from one judge and an 8 from another!

And people complain about the discrepancy of marking here!

I caught a clip of the Indian version the other week, rather amusing

Hmmm, interesting - quite fun but not sure I want to see it on SCD! (There are other group numbers I'd prefer! )

TV vet Trude Mostue was on the Norweigan version.
There were a few videos of her dancing on youtube a while back.

I think we have our own version in China, maybe in Hong Kong as well. Saw a clip a while ago and it was embarrassingly bad - the celebs are accompanied by, not only their pros, but also some background dancers!! Now these background dancers are professional dancers so they all look better than the celebs in the competition. Utterly pointless. I will try to dig out some clips from youtube...

an Australian member on the blueroom posted an article that the BBC in talks to do an Ashes type battle between SCD and DWTS there will be interesting if it comes off
