Feeling Paraniod? You may have good reason to now. Next time you pick up your mobile and lie about where you are you may have to think twice. Verilocation in conjunction with Orange, Vodafone and O2 is offering to track down the location of mobile phone users. This is primarily aimed at paranoid bosses but can be used for tracking anyone at £1 per go. Of course you could always switch over to T- Mobile or Virgin who don't offer this at present.

You forgot to mention that registration costs £250 and then another £20 per mobile number. Can't see this taking off with the average man in the street keeping tabs on his bird.

Looks like you missed an important bit on the website then:

April 2003 - why not use our non-subscription search for single users. Just enter the mobile to be tracked, this will SMS a message to the person being tracked requesting their authorisation. Once received the position will be released for you to see on the map. Calls cost £1.00

You'd think they'd highlight something like that near the top of the page. As soon as I saw £250 I thought f*ck that for a game of soldiers and couldn't be arsed to read any more. I bet a lot of others do too. Looks like the mobiles owners also have to authorise them to give the location so I can't see that working very well either. I certainly wouldn't give them permission if they asked.
