This week I purchased a new Panasonic plasma HD tv which I've been very impressed with. But the BBC channels have this intrusive 'info' flag in the top right corner. This annoying BBC feature only appears on their HD digital transmissions, not on their analogue transmissions. (I wouldn't mind the 'info flag' so much if it automatically disappeared after 20 seconds following a channel change). With thoughts of screen burn, should I stick to the markedly inferior analogue programs and preserve my screen quality? Or is their some hitherto undiscovered feature on my new tv menu that simply needs to be ticked off?
Removing info flag on screen
On a Sky box you can set it to go off after 30 seconds, or do it manually by pressing the 'backup' button - hopefully there will be a similar button on the Panasonic handset?.
Thanks for that Nigel. Unfortunately, I don't have a sky box, I'm still trying to comprehend the myriad of options on the remote!
I'm bracing myself for the next follow-up purchase to the tv which I feel might well be an HDMI cable and a HD player - but the £25 cost for discs would prevent such for quite a while in my case.
BTW. Whatever happened to all the discussion between the two HD disc formats? Maybe we shall see players able to use both and then most of us will take the plunge, because what's generally available on tv for the non-football/non-soap watcher is pretty dismal at present and as a result I buy a lot of those 3 for £20 dvd's currently available.

If you are talking top right and Freeview then do you mean the "Press Red" that usually appears if there is some interactive content related to the programme?
If so just press the Green button and it should go away.
If however you are talking about the channel ident that appears top left (except on the digital version of the five analogue services) you cannot get rid of those. And if you think the Beeb ones are obtrusive just try five US !

The channel ident appears on the top right as you suggest. I'm talking about a red circle with an 'i' inside it and next to it is a red red rectangle with "info", both are in the top right corner. And if you press the 'i' on your remote you can call up information on the program being transmitted.
Whatever it is, whatever it's for, I would prefer it wasn't there and I wonder if someone would know how it can be removed.

Not sure how the Pana can be picking up BBC HD broadcasts, it's tuner is not capable of such a thing, do you mean just the BBC digital (freeview) channels?
As for the red dot with "i" then that is the graphic used to indicate and interactive feature which I believe some Freeview hardware lets you remove while others do not.
I don't think chrisjr's green button option works on my Freeview boxes but I'll be giving it a go, strange that SKY has a solution for this (mind you took a while for them to offer an automated option).
