I've see a good price for Sony KV32FX20 but it is the European model - i.e. without the stand. Is there anything I should be aware of before I order it as I am hoping that the only shortfall against the UK model will be the 'no stand' which I don't want anyway.
Thanks for your help |

Be careful about euro imports...
Firstly they most likely won't provide Nicam Stereo that will work in the UK, so mono sound on terrestrial TV. Stereo via the AV inputs though. Secondly., Sony will not likely honor the guarantee for non UK models. So if it goes wrong within 12 months you might have a problem. The stand is no big deal but will cost probably £150 if you get the right one from Sony. Is it a big saving over a new UK priced model? Personally I'd be very wary of a non UK specific model. |

I have also decided on this TV and am just looking around for prices. I have found it at the following shop http://www.sdb-electronics.com/SONY_TV.htm at what I consider to be an excellent price of £750. This doesn't include the stand (£100) or delivery (£45) but considering I don't want the stand and I can drive there to collect it......
Does anyone know: 1. Where I can buy this cheaper 2. If SDB-Electronics are any good This may well be a European model, I will email to ask them about this and the sound. I am assuming that even if it is european I would be able to get stereo out through the AV outputs into my Sony HTK-215? Andy |

If it cannot decode UK spec NICAM sound then you still wont get stereo out of the TV via an AV amp. The only way would be to get the stereo sound out from a nicam video or dgital box.
Of course, I don't actually know it this model does or doesn't cope with UK NICAM! Some european TVs will cope pretty much everywhere, but the UK is often different enough to make problems. Ask for the exact model number, the end suffix tells you the original country version. KV28FX20U is for Uk for example, These days, however, some of the better TVs are multistandard, as it's cheaper to make a model for Europe, or the TV might have all the features inbuilt, but deactivated for certain countries. |

I have sent an email to the web site asking about the sound. I will post again when they have replied.

I have just recieved the following email from avstore:
Dear Mr Hewitt, The difference between the UK and European models is that the Euro model does not come with stand. All other features are the same and the warranty will be valid as the warranty is a Europe Wide one. If you require any further information then please let me know. Regards So it appears that everything is the same on this particular model as the UK one. Andy |

sounds promising then, the real test i would do if it were me. would be to call Sony, and ask if they will they honour the guarantee?
Come to think of it, my UK sony had a euro guarantee form, so it sounds likely, but worth checking nontheless. I know that Panasonic will not carry out guarantee work for non UK tv's. and they wont provide any technical assistance to authorised service dealers either! |

Sony KV32FQ75
Anybody had any experience with this set ? I found a real bargain at my local Sony Centre (£1200 - refurbished, but with 5 year gtee). Most high streets have it for £1599-£1699 plus extra for extended gtee. Cheapest on web is around £1350-£1450 plus extra for extended gtee).

Yeah that model has been mentioned around here....
It seems an excellent TV with a couple of niggling faults.... apparently there might be slight lip sinc problems... some odd AV input option problems... and geomentry problems... BUT it is also apparently a very good performer! check out http://www.kv32tweak.freeuk.com for a site devoted to Sony TVs.... http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/...?threadid=3669 for the thread about the FQ75 tv |
