There's some truth in what chocolate_boy said. Time will tell, let's see how relative sales of the two look in 12 months time.

Indeed, it will be interesting to see if in 7 months time 1,000,000 iPhone have been sold in the UK. From what has been leaked about sales to date it certainly looks doubtful if it will be the sales success that the N95 has been.

I suspect you're right, simply because Nokia is the No.1 supplier of phones world wide, have a very strong brand name in this country, and the N95 is in every phone shop in the country. But I also believe that Apple will achieve their own goal of 10M phones by the end of 2008, which by anyone's estimation would be pretty successful for a new player in the phone market.

Still more expensive than an N95 etc. on a contract, though.

£269 with a minimum £35/month contract for the iPhone, whereas you can get an N95 for free with a cheaper contract (plus more inclusive SMS & minutes.)

OK, the iPhone tariff has "unlimited" data, but you can always add on e.g. Web 'n' Walk with T-Mobile, or the O2 Web bolt-on.

Not "unlimited", but not too bad. My 1GB allowance with WnW is more than enough.

£450ish for an unlocked iPhone still seems steep to me. Seeing as it could be (simplistically) considered as an iPod Touch + "2.75G" phone, is the phone side of things really worth an extra £250 on top of the price of a touch?

I guess it's inflated because, if unlocked, Apple are *only* getting the money from the sale of the handset itself, rather than also gettign a nice slice of the monthly tariff too.
