Advice on a new HDTV?
Andrew J M
25-11-2007
Looking to get a an HDTV finally, however, I am utterly clueless on what to get. All the resolution figures leave me seeing stars......

I would like one at around 28-32 inches; very good for gaming and decent for SD viewing.

Can any one offer some advice? I'm aware that the best thing to do is look for yourself at a store, but any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks...

Well in general term there are some features to look out for.

Full HD - ie 1920x1080

Will it not only accept 1080p - but display it as well

1080p 24fps compatable including 5:5 for better sideways scrolling and 'correct' for HD films

LED backlights are starting to be available

HDMI socket that are 1.3 - for 'Deep Colour'

10 - bit LCD screens (a lot of current one's are 8 - bit) - so less colour banding

2 or 3 HDMI connections

If 2 Scarts - are both RGB

PC input? will it do the full screen resolution ie 1920x1080 not just 1366x768 (usually this is this the Max under VGA) you need to use HDMI for higher.

Cheers, Dave C.
