Audio Delay between TV / HiFi Speakers

Just bought a Samsung 37" LCD and a Panasonic DMR EX77 DVD Hard Drive Recorder. Problem is when playing a DVD (or watching TV for that matter), the audio from the TV speakers is slightly ahead of the audio from my Hi Fi speakers. I've tried connecting phono leads (white and red) both from the DVD player to the Hi Fi and direct from the TV to the Hi Fi with the same delayed results. This didn't happen with my old DVD Player. The TV is also connected to the DVD player by a HDMI lead. Any advice....the only connections on the back of the hi fi are white and red phono points. Thanks guys..........

That's the transient delay caused by the signal passing through your hi-fi amp.

I always listen to the TV through my hi-fi and turn down the volume on the TV.

Thanks.....so that's normal then?? How come it didn't happen with my old Philps DVD Player - the TV and Hi Fi were in perfect sync?
