Video cam to laptop to DVD

Hi
looking for some help tranferring to DVD from my laptop.
I have transferred some old 8mm video to my mini dv vid cam and then I have transferred that to my laptop using something called power producer gold. I now wish to transfer about 9 hours of video content to DVD but I only seem to be able to get 1 hour on a 4.7 gb DVD. I dont want to lose any quality but I think I must be able to get more than that on a DVD.

I'm sure i have gone about this the wrong way but any help would be welcome

Thanks

Terry

the only option is to turn down the quality of recording

might be when you record to mini dv vid cam that its too high

can you record straight to laptop?

then you could try reducing quality

I have Hi-8 recordings and they are awesome on a sony dvd-recorder

dvd recordings are very good and you might not notice in the picture, the discs are cheap so experiment
