The 300mb 'Fair Usage' limit - is that a cap or something? Doesn't really explain it on the website!

Help!

Is that the pay and go web bolt on 'unlimited' web for £7.50? I dont even know what the fair usage policy is but I use my mobile web for a couple of hours everyday and haven't been charged or warned about over using it so I guess its good

I have the o2 unlimited web bolt-on for £7.50 a month. The fair usage limit is 200MB. I've never gone over that yet and I'm not sure if they'd be charging per MB if you go over the limit. They might just warn you first. I think it's a good deal though.

I'm on the £7.50 web unlimited bolt on. Not sure if I have used more than 200mb but I thought they had scrapped the limit anyway.

200mb is oodles for mobile browsing, especially if you use opera mini rather than your phone's browser.

Orange give me 16mb i go online most days but rarely come close to using it all.

Yes i'm using Opera mini. It's really good, i mostly browse without pictures tho. I'm on P&G so can't use the mobile as a modem.

theres no limit as such, but they will warn you when you are using way to much

This is in place to stop people using their phone as a modem for their laptop.

“Our new O2 Web Bolt On gives you unlimited browsing for just £7.50 a month.

To opt into this Bolt On simply send a free text message with the keyword WEB to 21300 or call free on 2425 from your mobile.

Paying for your Bolt On is simple as it comes out of your calltime balance each month. We do all the work, all you have to do is keep your mobile topped up with enough calltime credit to pay for your calltime and your Bolt On payment each month.

Each month, we will send you a text message to let you know 48 hours before we are due to take the next months payment giving you a chance to top up your calltime balance to pay for your Bolt On or to opt out or change your choice.

You can opt out up to 48 hours before the next payment is due simply by sending a free text message with the keyword WEB OFF or by calling 2425 free from your mobile.

The O2 Web Bolt On can only be used for internet browsing on your phone. A fair use policy applies and if your usage substantially exceeds that of other users, which is normally expected to be below 200MB/month, you will be charged standard rates for additional browsing. We will send you a warning text message advising you to limit your usage before this occurs and a text message to confirm when you are being charged”

I use opera mini too its much better IMO I'm using a W810i and dont really like the web browser that came with it. It was locked to T-Mobile though so had a web browser and Webnwalk browser installed but for some reason it wont let me access the web through the T-Mobile browswer even though Ive changed the settings so I just downloaded opera mini and saved it in my applications

I was told by an O2 rep that I would receive a text once I reached 200mb and then once I reached 250mb anything else would be charged at £3 per Mb (normal O2 rate).

I don't have an issue with the limit which is more than enough for me on a mobile device but I do have a problem with O2 calling it 'Unlimited' when it clearly isn't. Why not just call it O2 200mb (or something)

I hate to bring up the dreaded i***** word. But I think O2 give a fair amount of data at 200mb as the bolt on.

To give some creedence to the iPhone tarrif which has been derided as too expensive they do actually offer totally unlimited web browsing on those tarrifs. Which was reported widely about a fortnight ago, and possible where the "unlimited" confusion arises.

I was pissed off at the initial 200MB limit for the iPhone and even though its been removed ive only used 60MB in the 3 weeks that I have had it. And I use it a lot. For general web browsing I get the feeling 200MB would be pretty hard to exceed. If you start factoring YouTube videos and podcasts then yeah its not too difficult. Otherwise I wouldn't worry too much about the 200MB limit.
