Youtube of Steve Brookstein's first ever X Factor auditions
Sorry to harp on- but Hotelier started a really good thread on who our faves were /are from each of the 4 X Factors and reading through it's amazing how many people missed the first series. (Which for me was the best of all 4... obviously I don't expect everyone to agree with me on that
)I just thought Steve fans and others who aren't familiar with that year might be interested to watch this 5 minute vid of his TWO auditions... two because Simon liked him, Louis was borderline but voted no, and Sharon voted no but... when he'd gone- Simon was really troubled about it and asked if he could call him back. They did.... It's really good tv: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_PepBr3Ho8 |

Great talent but comes accross as a lazy bugger
![]() Interestingly no "oh please let me through - I've waited so long for this". Acts just like it was another gig.... |

And Steve also showed us what Sharon Osbourne is really like when she lets her persona slip - not a pretty sight!

Unlike many auditions,I remember that one quite clearly.
I also remember Steve sitting on the left hand side of a large room (with someone he'd become friendly with at auditions) and he was so genuinely delighted when he was selected to further advance. Thanks amanduh. I appreciate your posts.

I can't get sound but I did see the one where she said wasn't nice or something, everyone thought so, he was a fake. She regretted that afterwards, as well as being unprofessional he got the sympathy vote. i think I even voted for him after that, I was so shocked.
Still she was sorry afterwards, I think she wouldn't make the same mistake again. |

OO- come and join the revolution!!!
We've got pitch forks and everything!! ![]() Steve's a consummate professional. He cares about his music and knows his music- he was just too cool for Sharon and Louis... they're not exactly known for their soul are they? Oh the temptation to be rude now!!! ![]() I think people who didn't watch the first series and aren't familiar with Steve would be really impressed with him... I know you can't speak for everyone- but if you check his youtube vids out- his stage presence leaps out at you- and the way he performs every song and is so at ease. What still confuses me about him is there's still that self-deprecation and self-doubt there under the surface even now. That's humility and I find that really endearing adn refreshing. P.S. Don't think Mrs O ever apologised to Steve for that- to this day- BUT- he's forgiven her and moved on- again shows what a nice guy he is. And for Mr C to say he'd never forgive her for that then treat Steve the way he did... and he's still got it in for him.... well- pot and kettle springs to mind, in a different way but what Mr C's done has been more damaging IMO. |

I remember his audition, i thought it was good that he was 'defeatist' as they put it, I hate the people who come in and say its all they ever wanted, or come out in floods of tears. Some people do really care, they just don't want to make a fool out of themselves by begging

Coda. If you are referring to the auditions, Steve was by no means lazy he had just done a gig and was really tired. Thank goodness they gave him a second chance to go through. He isnt lazy at all , hes a perfectionist who likes to do what he does well and keep improving on it and that he does. So hes anything but lazy.
