I just thought Steve fans and others who aren't familiar with that year might be interested to watch this 5 minute vid of his TWO auditions... two because Simon liked him, Louis was borderline but voted no, and Sharon voted no but... when he'd gone- Simon was really troubled about it and asked if he could call him back. They did....

It's really good tv:

Got to see Steve again last night!
Ian Levine held an album launch at the Ion bar in London for his new album Disco 2008- Steve sings a really catchy up tempo number called Head Over Heels and Voices With Soul sing From Now On- they're my two faves on the album so far.
I got a free ticket through signing up for Ian's newsletter on his myspace- didn't even realise Steve would be there originally, so it was a great bonus. I met up with a few other fans there and we had a ball! We saw Steve come in and he spotted us and came over to say hello.

The evening proper started about 9pm and I think about 10 or 11 artists sang live. There were some good singers who definitely knew what they were doing, but for me, Steve stood head and shoulders above the rest. He got a great reception and his song went down a storm. All those high notes and he nailed it... seemingly effortlessly.

Another bonus was getting to meet Brenda from the second X Factor, she was lovely and modest and I told her I'd come on here and brag I'd shaken her hand! And then- to round off the evening perfectly... Steve only came back over and bought us all a drink. Isn't that fantastic?! He's a wonderful bloke with a heart of gold and he really helped make what was already a special night even more special.

Cheers Betty.
And it wasn't just one drink- it was a whole bottle!!
My friend and I were the only ones drinking wine and couldn't believe when he came back with the round he'd bought- there was an ice bucket with our bottle of wine in it... we've both got hangovers today!!

And there's more.... his mum and dad had come to the gig with him, they too are wonderful people, so down to earth and friendly, and they joined our little party.... we felt a bit guilty about having a whole bottle to ourselves so poured Steve's mum one!

How strange OO... will go and ask the mods to take a look for you.
The fan who put up 4 new vids of Steve on the X Factor (his auditions among them) has just joined too and said they have pretty much everything he did and will try and upload some more... I'd love to see the vid when he went to tell his family he'd got through.

You're sorted now OO!

The lyrics in Head Over Heels are quite complicated, so many words and so little time ... especially to be singing so high... I especially love the line "Don't need no L'Oreal to tell me you're worth it" genius!!

He actually fluffed the words on the night and then went into his stand up routine, directing everyone to youtube before picking it up again and reaching those notes as if it were the easiest thing in the world!

BTW... did I mention... I got to kiss that designer stubble??
