HDMI via DVI converter or Analogue
What will give me the better HD picture quality. HDMI via a DVI converter or connecting via Analogue cables?
I have the options of connecting my Sky HD box by both methods. Cheers |

Assuming you mean Component versus HDMI/DVI?, then there's usually nothing to choose between them. But by all means try both, it really depends how well your TV handles them both.

Thanks Nigel,
I have a Philips tv with 1 DVI-D connec tion. I also have a Sky HD box and a Denon upscaling DVD both with Component connections. I can run both through my Denon amp and into my TV. I just wondered if there was a difference. Cheers |

Keeping it digital will eliminate at least one and very probably two conversion stages. Digital to analogue in the Sky box and analogue to digital in the TV.
There may be a very slight degradation involved in these two processes. But as Nigel says the difference may well be so small that you don't notice it. Mind you digital only needs one lead, component needs three (assuming the usual phono plugs are used). Bit less potential to get it wrong
