X Factor votes tumble...
ITV1's reality talent show The X Factor has been hit by the fallout from the Deloitte report, with around 50% fewer eviction votes being cast at times during this series.
MediaGuardian.co.uk has learned that following the premium-rate phone scandals, changes to the way viewers can vote - combined with negative publicity - have dented voting levels. Full Story: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2007...8/tvfakery.itv Can't say I'm too surprised. |

Not a great surprise - public confidence in the voting system isn't great, plus only landline votes this year (for obvious reasons).
Also I'm not sure the overall standard this year has helped matters. |

Stopping text voting will also have contributed to the decrease in votes.

Are you surprised? The talent this year is the worst ever. And why else do you think the bland yet good looking acts last/lasted as long as they have/did?

Whilst I accept there is only one potentially world class act in this series, how come it's attracted higher viewing figures than the last series? The Rhydian Factor?

Voting in TV shows has declined all across the board, and its appeal is wearing thin.

I'd agree with this...so many people I know watch but don't vote until the final.

People have lost confidence in the voting system, and rightly so. No-one wants to be conned out of their hard earned cash.
